Noncook, Chester "Washer-up"

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Needed a 550mm cooker. Position/labelling of controls. Fast response. Oven lights. Glass doors. Flat easy-clean top. Cooker was exactly as specified
Bad points:
My good lady would have liked the top oven door to drop down to the horizontal when fully open, otherwise she is very happy (with it). Would also have preferred self cleaning ovens but knew what she was getting.

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Cleaning made easy by removable sliding glass doors and rounded features on controls
Bad points:
No separate grill pan and the pan that comes with the cooker has no handle and is too heavy to lift in and out of the grill. I had a Zanussi cooker previously and luckily kept my old grill pan which helps

Cookers Buying Guide

Manufacturer's Description

As well as the 74 main litre oven, the second 37 litre oven and the grill, the ZCV551MW comes with a ceramic hob. With 4 zones, in 2 different sizes (2 big and 2 small) you’ve got an option for large and small pans. It has a glass surface too, so it really easy to clean. There are no crevices or dips, just one smooth surface – this also makes it easy to line it up with your kitchen units for that streamline look.

The top oven is conventional, so there’s a heating element at the top and bottom. Where a fan oven keeps the temperature even all over, conventional heat rises, so the top of the oven will always be the hottest. It’s the perfect way to cook pies, pastries, pizzas and anything else that needs a crispy base or top.

With large glass windows on both doors, and a light in both ovens, you can see exactly how your food’s getting on at all times. Because you’re not opening the doors to check on your dish, all the heat is kept inside making it very efficient. A rated in fact – the highest energy rating there is for a cooker.

The doors are air-cooled too. A fan blows cool air onto the glass, keeping the outside of the cooker cold to the touch. A must if you’ve got kids in the house.
