Good points:
When i bought this amp i was doubtful as to what i could expect for the money, but i have been pleasantly surprised
by the excellent sound and its ease of use, controls and various settings are simple to adjust so making it ideal
for the expert and beginner alike.
To get the very best out of this machine, make sure you have good speakers, and you won't be disappointed.
Bad points:
As yet i can't find any faults, but then i havn't had the amp very long.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
fantastic sound quality.warm & very clear without ever being splashy on the treble notes.there are also lots of sound dsp variations available for surround options although most are best avoided.for the price for music playback this machine is hard to beat.the 5 channel stereo enhancer being substantially effect for compressed mp3 music & stereo alike.surround via the hdmi sockets is very well steered & focused around the room but buyers need to be aware decoding for hd soundtracks needs to done via the external blurayplayer as there is no on board decoding for hd soundtracks.a true bargain if you have a blurayplayer that has on board decoding & want great music reproduction on a budget otherwise the next model up in the range provides on board decoding of hd sound formats.the remote is well laid out & none to shoddy .whilst the unit doesn,t pretend to be a high end contender in the looks department it is certainly no ugly duckling either & looks very pleasing for it,s cost with a mirrored facia all in black with a large clear dot matrix display.verdict over all has to be a great music reproducer but needs care when matching to bluray players.
Bad points:
no 3 pin i.e.c mains connection. if you wish to use an upgrade mains cable then a i.e.c plug needs to be fitted & preferably the case work grounded to an earthed circut or external grounding rod.fussing in bluray parring.better tv surround for sd tv & dvd can be obtained from sony for a little more cash outlay though outright music reproduction is better via the yamaha. & finally no on board hd sound decoding which is understandable at this price point though moving into next year may become more of an issue but shouldn,t be a dealbreaker.this is a piece of equipment well wrthy of consideration.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Straight out of the box , the receiver was easy to set up using the detailed instuctions downloaded from the website.
Took about 20 mins in total and that included assigning all the hdmi channels .
The receiver looks good and you will only need to use the remote for powering on , switching channels and the volume.

The remote also swithes the tv on and off at the same time ( so one less remote to think about ).
The unit works great with my Humax freesat box , the picture and sound quality being far superior to that of Sky in HD.

All in all , a great peice of kit at an incredibly low price per pound of performance.

Bad points:
Sound set up could be improved , as the mic supplied to optimise the speaker outputs was a little sensative and some resetting was required to obtain a good compromise between front and rear speakers.
Other than that , no problems.
