Performance and reliability for better than BT hub 3 or 4, no record of reboots to date. Works well in a multi hub environment with multiple APs.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
I already have a router setup with openWRT and the WD was easily able to be setup as a wireless access point with all the functionality of the hard drive, and this suited me perfectly. To be honest, I was more interested in the 2 TB hard drive at what was a very competiitive price, just on the hard drive alone, so getting a wireless access point was a bonus. You could easily set this up as your main router. I just prefer the flexibility of open WRT. Has worked really well in backing up, and sharing files between different computers. There is an iPad app but I haven't used it yet. That's next on the list.

Score 2.0/10
Good points:
Price and theoretical spec.
Bad points:
We could not make this work trying both a PC and a Macbook. We wanted to use it as a wireless storage system but it would only "connect" when used as a router (ie connected to the internet). It would then see the drive but we could not read or write to it and the backup tab was greyed out. I don't know if we had a faulty unit but whatever we tried didn't work. In the end we took this back to a store (bought by post) and got a USB drive instead. In theory a great idea but dissapointing.

Alex, Sheffield

Score 6.0/10
Good points:
To have a network device with 2TB of storage was too good to pass up, especially as my file server setup using an old laptop and a 500GB drive was creaking as the seams.

The N900 is very easy to set up and is rock solid as a wired file server. I have the N900 directly wired to my desktop over a Gigabit connection (file transfer about 25 to 30MB/s), and to get around the wireless issues it is connected to a Powerline to the wireless broadband router downstairs so files can at least be accessed by the households media centre, phones and tablets (about 6 to 7MB/s - more than enough for high definition playback).
Bad points:
The wireless aspect is hopeless - even with the latest firmware, devices connected to either the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are often disconnected then reconnecte - frustrating when trying to down or . Plenty of testimony online to support this as a well known issue. Hopefully, a firmware update will sort this out, but at version 1.07.16 you'd think that a software solution would have been implemented by now?

Bad points:
Difficult to find attached storage, or to find out what you're doing wrong if it doesn't work. I also had to put mind in AP mode to get it to work.
