Good points:
Im just using it as a means to an end really to try and keep the bulk off my internal hd, but yeah, definitely worth getting the Mac formatting. Its the second one I have bought actually as i use the other for my time machine back-ups so I must have liked the first one to have gone back for another.. like the lighting on the front as it gives you an idea of capacity taken..
Bad points:
Dont like the Smartware software that comes with it - not necessary in my opinion, in fact rather annoying, and near on intrusive as im stuck with the icon on my desktop. Would like to know whether I can uninstall this actually but havent dared to yet as i dont want to stop the device working properly.

Robert, London

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
Takes the process of backing up your work away - as it does it all for you in the background. It’s small, light, and huge. Mine has even taken a bounce (wouldn't recommend it)on the floor and carried on working never missing a beat. There are lots of options to backing up your work so its worth taking time out to set it up correctly from the outset. Its plug and play so no messing around and the moment you plug it in the back up process kicks in. The displays on the unit are clean and on the software your system and the data transfers are displayed clearly. I like the idea too of having an array of them lined up like a data library. All round I’m very happy with this unit, excellent value for money for 1000 gig and a no brainer to use.
Bad points:
I always have it in the horizontal position, as it’s a little unsteady in the upright position when it’s sitting on my kitchen table. Maybe when you have a fleet of them together this wouldn't be a problem. Its important to set the drive up correctly from the start and it can be annoying when it copies every little thing on your desktop from word go.

Peter, Grange Over Sands Recent convert to Mac

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
These drives are already formatted for MAC, and are very easy to set up and to use. I now have two of them. I use one for the Time Machine back ups on my iMAC and the other for my large and growing photograph collection. I can't yet comment on their durability but the build quality seems fine.
Bad points:
The drive is not particularly portable, but to be fair they are not sold as portable drives which are much smaller and probably provide better insulation from knocks.
