Score 7.0/10
Good points:
This toshiba is compact, light, sleek and a decent mid-way between portabillity and performance, which is what I was looking for in an ultra thin. I did a lot of research and this is probably one of the best machines you can get if you,re trying not to exceed the 500 pound mark. Whilst the battery life is decent, its nowhere near the 8 hours its advertised to be. Having a couple of browser windows open plus excel maybe brings the battery life to between 3 and 4 hours, which at the beginning of its life, is a little disappointing as its likely to deteriorate. Packs perfectly into a messenger bag though.
Bad points:
The single biggest negative is the touch pad mouse which is not responsive and not intuitive. Its something basic that they've got very wrong. Use a usb mouse and its sorted, but when on the move, its irritating. As above, I expected the battery life to give at least 5 to 6 hours, at least now and the beginning and its more like 3.5 performing moderately demanding tasks. If it keeps to that battery life or time for a year or two, then I wouldn't mind but its likely to deteriorate. Also, though it does the job, it does lag for when multitasling sometimes so if you're looking for an all-rounder and not concerned about the size and price, u can 14 inch machines with a core 2 duo processor that will no doubt be faster.

Good points:
Great looking light laptop with amazing battery life - perfect for transporting
Bad points:
No warning when battery is low so just closes down everything until you can find a power source. Mouse also freezes quite a lot and the only way put is to hold down the power button and restart everything

Philip , London Business user

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Lightweight with good battery life, attractive design, this model has processor speed and runs smoothly without any nasty surprises + has a good size hard drive. It's quiet without any strange fanning sounds or scratching hard drive. The keyboard doesn't rattle. When pushed the machine doesn't get particularly hot.
Bad points:
The keyboard mistypes, especially vowels and Ss. The solution is to use an external keyboard and the problem disappears. The touchpad isn't great as it does weird things at times and freezes-up on occasions. The Toshiba reminders and popups are tiresome and endless. The screen is too reflective.
