Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Toshiba's Best Kept Secret: Slim and lightweight like an ultrabook yet with an internal DVD-RW and full complement of ports makes this the most fully featured machine buy a mile in the price bracket. Subtly stylish the R830 is also much more of a looker than some reviews lead me to believe. And what's the point of an ultraportable without top notch battery life - this has it. Considering the cost of a Portege the Satellite is an absolute steal.
Bad points:
Beefier speakers, higher res webcam, plus backlit/spill resistant keyboard would have been nice. (NOT Bad Points - just a wish list!)

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Lightweight
Like to Eco power save option
Bad points:
Not everything works in the USB3, so I feel short of a USB port (I have a usb wreless mouse, so this takes up one always, as I leave it behind in the 4 port hub otherwise!)

A "glossy" screen would be nice - make phootos and videos look more stunning

James, London Often on the move

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
The battery life is outstanding, and the performance for such a small machine is outstanding, easily able to run older games and process media file editing. The weight and size is impressive for a fully functioning laptop compared with a netbook and the overall fit and finish gives an impression of quallity.
Bad points:
The speakers are appalling making watching movies or listening to music a terrible experaince unless you either use headphones or connect it to a external sound system. They keyboard takes a little getting used to as it has a very shallow depress and it does have some sharp corners. It also comes with a lot of useless software installed, but it is not a major issue to remove it and the programs themselves give advice on how to do this.

Victoria, London Business user

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Lightweight--a truly portable laptop
Speed of start up, clarity of image, layout of files and general intuitive set-up of software on Windows 7. Magnifying tool very helpful for some emails and websites.
Internal DVD/CD-ROM drive is very helpful and not a common feature on laptops that are as light as this. The lightweight is really the reason I bought this laptop.
Bad points:
Keys are slippery and track pad too sensitive so when typing the heat of your palm can make the cursor suddenly jump to another part of the screen. I typically use it with a separate monitor and keyboard. Keys feel horrible to the touch.
Speakers are absolutely dreadful--reducing some sublime music to tinny noise. Can ONLY use with headphones or external speakers--then it is fine.
2 USB ports is about 2 too few. Have to have an external USB hub.

Samantha, Hastings Often on the move

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Light, powerful for it's size. Has a disc drive (not that I ever use it). Handles HD editing (such as footage from my Headcam and Micro 3/4 Camera with ease).
Long power cable.
Comfortable typing.
For an inexpensive portable machine this is fab! I got this at a good deal as end of range shop display.
I am not a big tech geek, so I am sure there things that could be improved but for everyday watching vids/emails/browsing and video editing of your headcam stuff it is ideal
Bad points:
The power lead plug in to the laptop often comes loose especially if you have it on your lap (and then you are not charging) so the fit could be a bit snugger. For an inexpensive portable machine this is fab! I got this at a good deal as end of range shop display.
Get rid of Toshware as not all needed
