Score 10.0/10
Good points:
-Blazing speed for an Eco chip
-Oodles of memory for demanding applications (eg video encoding, gaming)
-Surprisingly good framerates on reference game benchmarks (~40fps on UT2004 at native resolution)
-Pin sharp video playback, good contrast, no ghosting, on a perfect desktop replacement sized screen
-Good battery life considering the above (2.5h encoding video *and* playing a game (Need For Speed: World with all enhancements on, upwards of 4.5h wordprocessing) and the fact that it's a laptop, not a notebook or netbook!
-Shockingly enough, I didn't rip out Windows 7 Home Premium as soon as I got it home, which is my usual habit when I get a computer (I usually use Linux), but having an open mind I decided to give it a try - this thing seems built for it.
Bad points:
-Lid feels a little flimsy, it's kid gloves time when handling.
-No firewire or expansion slot - DV input would have set this thing up beautifully as a portable video capture/editing station.
-Hard drive, while spacious, feels a tad slow at times - I want THROUGHPUT!
-Speakers are clear but lack low-register definition, and a little quiet. Sound processing can be laggy.
