Good points:
Fantastic value for money. I bought it as a replacement to a similar size/model Tosh I bought for approx 3 times as much years ago, and couldn't belive the price difference. Some of the finer features of the old model are
missing, eg the matt screen on the old model has a lot less glare than the glossy screen that seems to be on this and all current laptops, the FireWire port for my old minidv camcorder, and the wonderful Harman Kardon speakers that mDe the device like a Ghetto blaster, but the sound is still fair. All in all, I am highly delighted with the laptop - I would havhaste to purchase a Qosmio to improve significantly, but at what cost? Have tried it for games - that's what Nintendo's r 4.
Bad points:
Shiny sceen (as with all modern laptops), no FireWire, no HDMI, all very minor for the purchase price.

Good points:
Good battery life for a 17inch, dedicated graphics card, not heavy, great monitor, fairly powerful for the price.
Bad points:
Could do with a larger hard drive, only 2 usb ports... and some components aren't compatible with some Linux distros (at the moment).

Allan, Dagenham UK Often on the move

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
This is a huge monster of a laptop but for one this size (17.3) it is remarkably light. Considerably lighter than my old 15 inch Toshiba in fact. The screen resolution and picture quality are superb. The substantial memory and AMD processor is very useful.
Bad points:
Either this machine is being deliberately missold by several retailers or the HDMI outlet that is featured in the specifications is so well hidden that I have yet to find it! The Toshiba face recognition log on gimmick is exactly that; a gimmick. More often than not it fails to recognise the face and you end up having to enter a log on password manually. The battery life could be better but for a machine this size you have to be realistic and it is probably no worse than I expected. The speakers are not brilliant bet hey, this is a laptop after all.
