Score 7.0/10
Good points:
The price was mid range and on the par with other laptops i was looking at but they didnt have a 17 inch screen. I bought another Toshiba ( Equinox i think it was) 3-4 years back and again having the 17" screen it was well built with plenty of usb ports and felt like a quality product....and more importantly took a few knocks in its day with me and my son now uses it but it has become so slow. The i3 Core processor really does the job running some big programmes and lets me play my favourite command and conquer game as well. I was told and advised by the sales rep that other laptops using bigger core processors like the i5 or even i7 cannot cool themselves down like desktops can due to their size and are overheating....this made sense and when he told me an i3 would run Autocad and let me game on it as well i was sold . For its size its very lightweight and the screen quality is good. Battery life isnt bad either pending on what your running ,In the real world it lasts about an hour and a half on average while browsing the web and playing games which for the size of the screen is pretty good ,obviously running less powerfull apps will increase the battery life to the manufactures spec but as i said in the real world its pretty good.
Bad points:
It feels very hollow and when you tap the casement and you get that echo sound as you would tapping a hollow stud wall but worse, this really makes it feel cheaply put together . Only 2 usb ports on the left side only which are too close together making one of my usb connections have to bend to the left and the other to the right when plugged in together ...A bluetooth mouse/keyboard stick and a usb internet dongle (2 very essential items for a laptop i would of thought) so Not impressed here ! .....
Where the top panel part is joined to the lower panel part on both the screen and the keyboard the join line feels very sharp, its that kind of feeling when your sitting at a mdf table or see a mdf wardrobe and an edge strip is badly put on you just want to pull at it all the time .
The speakers are really terrible , Cheap is an understatement full power my phone turned to its lowest volume is louder .
I used to wonder how people could end up with missing keys on their laptops esspecially after owning pretty decent laptops before - I now know that im going to have a problem in the future with the keys on this laptop as again quality is quite evident or should i say lack of it they just feel to thin and rattle at the slightest touch eve when not pressed down and the keys along the lower line from the ctrl key to spacebar key to the numbers enter key all have their edges more exposed because of the bevelled/tapered design of the outer area.
In summary then .....Good against bad

I dont love it but like my car i wish i could of afforded one of them Luxury models but its doing its job and came in at price which wasnt to hard on my pocket ..My last toshiba gave me the confidence to move away from my sony Vaio because of its durability .....I hope this one doesnt make me change brands again.
