Tokina AT-X DX 50-135mm f/2.8 reviews: Lens

- Good points:
- Built like a tank and covering an extremely useful focal range (the equivalent 70-200mm on a full frame sensor), I really can't understand why this lens sold so poorly and was discontinued so quickly by Tokina. Although a tiny bit soft wide open at 150mm, it gets really sharp at f/4 or at f/3.5 when zoomed all the way in. Quite honestly, I'd describe this as a 'professional' quality lens (and I own a few of those already).
- Bad points:
Tripod collar cannot be removed and occasionally gets in the way, or snags on the camera bag.
Distortion is noticeable at certain focal lengths, but is easy to correct with software.

Tokina AT-X DX 50-135mm f/2.8
Tokina’s AT-X 535 PRO DX lens, a 50mm-135mm with a fast constant aperture of f/2.8. This allows the lens to offer the 80-210 telephoto zoom but in a lens that’s smaller and lighter.
The lens features SD glass (super low dispersion) lens elements, providing correction for chromatic aberrations and allow focusing all colours accurately. This means the AT-X 535 PRO DX an APO lens.
Featuring a newly formulated WR coating that makes finger-prints and water marks much easier to clean than older coatings.
Utilising Tokina’s exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch lets you easily and instantly switch between auto and manual focus modes. Simply snap the focus ring forwards for auto focus, pull back for manual focus. Placed in an intuitive position, making swapping focus modes quicker than toggling switches on lenses or camera.
