Good points:
I have been using this lens for only two weeks but my first impressions are very good. I use it on Nikon D300s, the lens is very well balanced and built quality is really excellent. The non-detachable tripod mount does not bother me at all, it can be rotated and fixed in any desired position. Personally I like the extra bit of weight due to metal barrel. It feels like you’re holding in your hands a really solid piece of photo equipment. Optically the lens is great, with lovely rendered colours and smooth bookeh. Tokina attendes to detail in every aspect of design and manufacture of their lenses. The 50-135 is no expectation, even the lens hood has been designed with great care. It has a nice velvety black finish on the inside, preventing any stray lights, or reflections, from reaching the front optical element.
Bad points:
None so far.

Good points:
If you're into portraiture this is the lens for you - all the portrait focal lengths rolled into one solid, fast, compact lens. In 35mm terms it's a 80 to 216mm f/2.8 on my 60D Canon, but compare it alongside a full frame lens of the same spec and just see how compact this lens is. It comes with an excellent, deep, bayonet on hood and just think - many lens manufacturers charge extra for this must-have and must-use accessory. This very lens is sold as an Asahi Pentax lens, which shows how good it is. As production of this lens comes to an end it's time you bought yours - there's nothing in Canon's lens line-up to touch it. The push-pull manual / auto focus is much better than the little switch on most lenses and auto-focus is fast and accurate.
Bad points:
The only downer is that it has a non-removable tripod mount - almost completely unnecessary in my view. There's no stabilisation built in, but this lens is fast and modern chips can shoot without flinching at 1600 ISO so there - you've got your shutter speeds back. The writing's on the lens: Tokina do love their gold font and highlights.

Good points:
Excellent build quality and very sharp, in fact it may be the sharpest lens I own

Not a bad point but worth mentioning, the image colours produced are very saturated and I have to move my picture control to neutral in order to get roughly the same level of colour obtained by my other lenses in the normal position.
Bad points:
I like to play around with my white balance settings "in camera", its a real challenge getting it right with the Tokina.

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
Excellent sharpness even at f2.8 through the entire focal length range.
Superb bulit qualtiy at any price. Very smooth zoom and focus rings. Similar build quality to the Nikon 70-200 f2,8.
Superb creamy bokeh
Very smooth focusing and solid, accurate focus lock with the Nikon D7000.
Focuses in Live View with Nikon D7000..
Very high value pro-quality lens for a consumer grade lens price..
Bad points:
No image stabilization in lens.
Screw drive. No HSM motor in lens. However, with the Nikon D7000, focusing is smooth, accurate and reasonably fast..
Can't remove the tripod collar foot for hand held shooting.
A bit heavy, but considering the build quality it is reasonable.
No lens pouch provided with lens.
