Score 9.0/10
Good points:
The Scan Pocket Radio has proved invaluable over the past eleven weeks. My mum, who is 88 years of age has been hospitalized and quite frankly without it her stay in hospital would have been even more distressing than it already was. Mum's eyesight is impaired and as a consequence she could not watch the television. This little scanner has enabled her to listen to the news and take away some of the boredom by listening to plays and occasionally music. It was one of the first thing she reached for every morning. It is a neat little product that did not take up space on her table and for mum, who is not technically minded, it was very easy to use and fitted neatly into her dressing gown pocket. Other patients on mum's ward (all elderly) were so impressed that they asked if my sister and I could purchase one for them. Mum occasionally forgot to turn it off but that did not cause a problem as it took up very little battery life. I would rate this product as excellent.
Bad points:
I found it a little awkward to replace the batteries and the "clip on" covered the battery case, it was very fiddly to get the batteries in place. I would have preferred the on/off light to have been a bit bigger as I could not see at a glance whether it was off or on. The sound quality was not perfect but did the job for the low price I paid for it.
