Score 9.0/10
Good points:
A variety of different types of signal outputs so should be compatible with most equipment. Could have done with a RF output for the older TV, but otherwise good. Good range of features including very easy to use with iPlayer if you have a broadband connection. Front panel display if very handy to keep track of what the box is up to. Overall would recommend if you need to send output signal to a variety of devices, but otherwise might be too expensive for what you need.
Bad points:
A bit geeky to set up, not as easy to get started with as other HD boxes I have used e.g. Goodmans. A bit pricey but worth it for the features. Could have done with an RF output and HD component output, would have made it more compatible with a wider range of TVs.

Good points:
A versatile freesat and general free to air receiver.
Bad points:
The USB recorder function is clearly an afterthought and is not integrated particularly well. Has only a single tuner.

Manufacturer's Description

Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat
(Only available in UK)

The HDFS Satellite HD Digital Receiver with freesat has been designed for the reception of both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) programming. The freesat specification offers a fully featured Electronic Programme Guide (ePID), interactive ‘Red Button’ services using MHEG-5 and HD programmes from ITV HD.

The HDFS allows multimedia playback of movies, music and pictures from external USB devices, memory cards and Compact Flash or via a networked PC using the Ethernet port. The network connectivity can be extended further with the addition of the TechniSat USB-WLAN adaptor to provide a wireless solution.

In addition to freesat mode, the HDFS has a TechniSat mode which offers the extended features and functions expected of a TechniSat receiver, such as multi-satellite reception using DiSEqC and motor control.

Adding to a great year for the multi-award winning TechniSat HDFS, it has received the Freesat HD Receiver of the Year 2010 award.
