- Good points:
Good value for money. Build quality exceptional for a medium priced CD player.
I don't have an Ipod and so cannot comment on this feature, however, I use USB Drives as an MP3 source
and the audio quality produced at 128 Kbps is remarkably good. Can just about cope with a fully stuffed 8GB
Drive of MP3 files recorded @128Kbps This is just within the files/folders specified max limits.
Remote control very responsive (can be used at quite a wide angle) and well laid out to enable folder and track selection from USB source.
CD playback excellent with almost silent transport.
Low power consumption when turned on and in standby.
Have also used optical diff output via external DAC which also works for USB playback.
Suprisingly, the CDP650 internal DACS sound every bit as good as my Alchemy freestanding DAC so I've also saved some space.
A very good machine for the money.
- Bad points:
CD to USB MP3 recording feature is a bit superfluous since you cannot write an normal ID Tag.(Track name,
Album name and Artist) It just labels tracks in numerically ascending order.
A small amount of mechanically audible transformer buzz when the box is turned on but this can be minimised with additional isolation pads beneath the feet. Cannot be heard a few feet away from the unit.
