Mike,

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I bought this lens to replace my kit lens to photograph indoor volleyball. What a huge improvement. The focal length is good if you are seated close to the game. If you are in the stands and want to zero in on an individual player, you will need a longer lens. So far, I am very happy with its low light ability, which was the reason I bought it. For the money, it is the way to go. This will probably be my carry lens.
Bad points:
A little soft at 2.8 sometimes, but not bad at all. Anything 4.0 or higher and it is razor sharp.
