Good points:
It is small and light, but big enough to use the keys without being a hobbit! (No offence to any hobbits reading!) I took it to New York and back with no problems at all, with two very big cases, lol. The spec is awesome and it is faster than most desktops.

I'm really happy with the choice I made as it has a higher spec than the Macbook, is lighter, better designed and prettier and cheaper.
Bad points:
The battery life is the only minus, but I'm not sure how it compares to other laptops.

Good points:
very light, looks nice and excellent resolution (1600x900, but very usable). Screen contrast and quality is very nice. It is has both internal and dedicated graphic adaptors, so you can alternate between performance or battery saving with a switch of a button. I'm happy with it for my purposes.
Bad points:
I got lucky and got it for £750. Have no clue why Currys/Dixons were doing it so cheap. I thought it was a mistake. But they must have made a deal with Sony, because everyone else seemed to stop selling them. Anyways this model is/was normally £1500. I was looking at the cheaper version whch was around £1100. So I still can't believe my luck.

Unless you buy it at the same price I did, then the bad point is these are expensive, and generally Sony products are more expensive because you are also paying for the brand. A realistic price would be around £900.00 or £950.00

No many displays on the machine either to know what changes you have made as with other laptops (i.e. volume level, very few connections (only 2 USB connectiosn for example), no eSata which is becoming quite common on laptops.

Power is less impressive then the specs suggest.

Battery life is better than most, but still no where near the advertised rate. I'd say on Stamina mode with normal usage (itunes and word and internet) expect 3 and a half hours, and on Speed mode (itunes, word, internet) expect 2 hours.

Manufacturer's Description

Outstanding display
Among the VAIO Z Series’ best in class capabilities is a revolutionary 13.1” X-black LCD display.

Scratch-proofed and anti-glare, it delivers 100% true-to-life colour fidelity and extra wide 1600×900 resolution for deeper contrast and truly natural realisation.

Easy portability
With its carbon fibre casing the VAIO Z Series notebook weighs under 1.5kg, so it could hardly be easier to carry.

Carbon fibre is 30% lighter than traditional computer construction materials. Yet as you’d expect of a material more commonly used in aviation and Formula One, it is also 200% stronger.

Cylindrical hinge
The VAIO Z Series’ button, AC adaptor terminal and battery are all cleanly aligned along its elegant cylindrical spine.

This distinctive construction allows the jointed thickness of the screen and main body to be kept to an absolute minimum, accounting for its pristine portability.

Isolation keyboard
The isolation keyboard is carved seamlessly from a single sheet of aluminium, so the palm rest and keyboard form a continuous surface styled into a smooth curve at the front of the notebook.

As well as looking stylish, this unique feature enhances both durability and comfort.

VAIO Everywair
VAIO Everywair wireless WAN* allows you seamless connectivity for uninterrupted, 3G wireless mobile broadband access across every time zone.

Even on the move you’ll stay in touch with clients, colleagues, friends and family. Experience the freedom of total connectivity.

Longer lasting battery
All VAIO Z Series models include LED technology for longer battery life.

With up to five and a half hours of cable free computing, you can access email and the internet instantly, wherever and whenever you want, without the need for a hotspot.

New materials
The use of advanced new materials in Sony X-black LCD technology in the VAIO Z Series offers increased resistance to marks, as well as reproducing extreme details of the real wide 1600×900 resolution.

Advanced security
Peace of mind is standard on the VAIO Z Series. Its range of advanced security features includes fingerprint recognition, hard disc drive protection and TrustedTM Platform Module, preventing unauthorised access to data.
