Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Brilliant screen, smart design, great illuminated keyboard and good performance. A very 'sexy' piece of kit!
Bad points:
Need to buy extended battery (expensive) to get the most out of this laptop. Fingerprint reader is not sensitive enough, can be very hit and miss to use. Trackpad buttons too 'clicky', they need a softer response, very annoying in a quiet environment. I've found all Vaio's I've ever used have this 'fault'.
However, faults included, I'd still buy it again.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
The overall design, illuminated keyboard, battery life and the transformer, which is smaller than my previous S ony lightweight laptop.
Bad points:
The Nvidia graphics card struggles at times. My previous laptop also had an Nvidia card & it coped with 3D CAD drawings well so I assumed a later version with more memory would do as well, but it doesn't! Sometimes drawings open completely blank & I have to try & select items to make them appear.

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I was so impressed by the Sony VPCS13V9E/B that after 6 months of use I went and bought a second one for my business use. This laptop has everything right, size, portability, performance, and good design. I am very fussy about keyboards but find this one excellent to use, This laptop is as much at home in a business environment, as it is on the train in a portable situation, as it is for use at home. Its versatility is a perfect balance of functionality

Manufacturer's Description

VAIO Display

Your VAIO will make multimedia entertainment more exciting with true-to-life intensity, vibrant colours and real depth. Sony’s groundbreaking VAIO Display technology features real wide 16:9 aspect ratios, high contrast and scratch resistance on all models.

Most of our models feature LED technology which means slimmer and lighter screen and superior battery life.

On selected entertainment notebooks, VAIO Display Plus adds anti-reflection and wider viewing angles to your viewing pleasure.

On professional-level VAIO notebooks, VAIO Display Premium adds extreme brightness and high colour saturation.

Environmental Thinking

Many VAIO models are Energy Star compliant, while others feature power-saving technology, such as powering down the screen while you listen to music.

Our production processes are driven by environmental concerns. Packaging is from recycled material. All main circuit boards (without components) and plastic cover parts above 25g are halogen-free while, for easy recycling, all plastic parts above 100g comprise one material or easily-separable materials.

Solid State Drives

Some VAIO models offer Solid State Drive (SSD) technology instead of or in addition to normal hard disc storage.

Having no spin up time, and no mechanical parts, data retrieval and storage is near-instantaneous making work, and browsing, faster and more enjoyable. With no moving parts, SSD devices can withstand day-to-day knocks, making them less prone to failure.

SSD devices use memory chips rather than a spinning hard disc to store data. Unlike other memory chips, they retain data when powered down.

Windows® 7

All VAIO notebooks integrate the new Windows® 7 operating system.

Windows® 7 is designed to make PCs start up, shut down, resume from standby and respond faster, while enhanced power-management increases battery life. With Windows® 7 Professional or Ultimate, you’ll be able to run programs designed for Windows® XP (may require additional free download).
