Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Awesome performance with zero issues running video manipulating software and medium demanding games.
Solid build quality and nice keyboard. Great array of i/o connections, fantastic quality screen. Vaio programs very good for media access, and computer maintenance. Great build quality.
Bad points:
A bit heavy, but this reflects the build quality, battery life a bit of an issue due to the heavyweight processor and high demand screen.

Score 4.0/10
Good points:
appeared to have all the top items in.
Bad points:
Very expensive. Initially it never worked very well and kept crashing. I therefore did not use it much. after a year the wifi went then eventually it packed up. The main board proved to be defective and it was expensive to fix 485 pounds. Since then the computer has worked fine and it is a pity the initial fault made the computer look inferior especially for the price

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Excellent display for photos and HD movies. Excellent specification on processor and RAM. Blu Ray burner provided and extremely useful.
Bad points:
Battery life too short hence needs constant re-charging. Sound could have been better, too "tinny" for me, hence I have it connected to external speakers. No workstation facility. Could have done with 4 USB ports instead of 3. For the price also fast USB 3 ports should have been included.

Manufacturer's Description

The VAIO F13Z1E has the power to bring your creativity to life. Performance is guaranteed, thanks to the powerful combination of the Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB RAM, giving you the freedom to speed through complex tasks. Whether you’re editing photos and home videos or kicking back with a favourite movie, they’ll look great on the Full HD 1080 real-wide screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. For an immersive home cinema experience, pop a movie into the Blu-ray Disc writer and enjoy the surround sound delivered by Dolby Home Theater v3. NVIDIA graphics will ensure action-packed games and videos are smooth and loaded with detail. When you’re ready to make your own, just open up the built-in VAIO Software and create your own home movie or tweak your photos. Importing files is easy with the eSATA port offering super-fast transfer.

For your viewing pleasure

Movies and games will spring to life thanks to the high contrast and vivid colours of the generous 16.4" VAIO Display Premium screen. With Full HD 1920 × 1080 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, this real-wide screen lets you enjoy movies as the director intended—with Blu-ray for five times the picture quality of DVD. It’ll sound great too, thanks to Dolby Home Theater v3, which delivers a powerful, immersive soundtrack for movies and games, as well as all your favourite music. Connect the notebook to your HDTV with an optional HDMI cable and watch all your Blu-ray movies, HD home videos and HD photo slideshows in style.

Smart technology, powerful graphics

When you’re editing images, developing games and exploring HD, you want to know that your PC has the technology to support your activities. Leading the pack on the F13Z1E is the top-of-the-line Intel Core i7 processor, which not only makes multi-tasking a pleasure but also incorporates Intel Turbo Boost Technology to give you extra speed and precision when you need it. 1GB of video RAM and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M GPU graphics means fast-moving action will be smooth and crystal clear. A massive 8GB DDR3 memory enhances the notebook’s rapid response, and a 500GB hard drive means there’s plenty of space to save multimedia files. Completing the package is Windows 7 Home Premium, offering easier access to all your programs and files and faster networking.

Bringing your creativity to life

Make the most of your photos and videos with Picture Motion Browser (PMB). Use the eSATA port to transfer your multimedia at up to five times the speed of a standard USB connection. The files will automatically be stored in the PMB calendar for easy access, then get ready to have some fun. Advanced editing features mean you’ll be able to adjust images, add special effects and make them look more professional. You can also create your own movie in three easy steps: just select the images and videos you want to use, choose a theme, and let Picture Motion Browser do the rest. When you’re ready to share your creations, just click ‘Create Disc’ to automatically save them to DVD or Blu-ray Disc, which lets you save an extra 50GB on a single removable DVD-sized disc.

Transfer files in moments

Waiting for files to transfer to removable media, can make those seconds and minutes feel like hours. USB.03 (Universal Serial Bus) is the super fast way to communicate between external devices such as hard drives and your VAIO F Series. The results speak for themselves, super fast file transfer rates meaning no more waiting.

Turn on to Media Gallery

One touch of the VAIO button opens the Media Gallery software. It takes you straight to your favourite videos, photos and music, which can be organised by time and event. Intelligent technology means Media Gallery will recommend media stored in your library or on the web, based on your personal preferences. It gives you a truly personal library and helps you discover new music and movies you may like.

Get connected

With Integrated Wireless LAN you’re free to get online whenever you want. If you’d rather have a face-to-face chat with faraway friends or family, just power up the built-in Motion Eye webcam, and get together in an instant. The VAIO F Series offers a range of interfaces to work with for link-ups to power, digital camcorders and external drives. Cable-free connection to a range of devices is also possible, with Bluetooth. Another way of getting connected is by using your VAIO as the central server, linking all your home digital devices. Innovative DLNA technology means you can stream movies, music and photos to your HDTV, no matter where in the home they’re located.
