Good points:
What's good: Firstly the build quality. It is clearly well put together and laid out. The on screen display is clear and easy to read and there are no glitchy menus, sound and video options are flexible and straightforward just what you would expect from the brand. Despite what some older reviews say it plays equally well off USB, DVD and the hard drive, even whilst recording, and has an easy to navigate menu to dub and play from each source.
Bad points:
It is difficult to be negative but a couple of points that were difficult to find in other reviews I used when searching for a new model. 1 - it isnt silent. It is very quiet, but if you were expecting fanless, this isnt. 2 - The remote is very complex. I am still getting used to it but having used other brands you would expect the scroll and enter buttons on the central trackpad to operate all scrolling and select options. On this model you need to use page up and fast forward to scroll through some menus, and the old teletext colour keys to select! Put simply, I doubt my gran would be able to use it.

Bad points:
Not easy to set up. Instruction book too professional for an idot like me being way passed my sell by date, it assumes you are already conversant with IT language........ Had to enlist the help of my grandson................... Very slow on start up and closing down also panel light needs to be brighter.

Good points:
I upgraded to this model because my old one could not cope with the large image size from my camera. This one does exactly what it says on the tin. Compared with the old one it is quicker and easier to set programme recording. I had no problem with set up. Plug and play when connected with HDMI cable. I am pretty well satisfied. Good value for money.
Bad points:
Has a seemingly pedestrian delete function and takes a while to load its content every time it is switched on from cold.

Good points:
Usually very happy with Sony products and if this was the first Sony Freeview HDD we purchased probably would have rated it much higher.
Bad points:
Disappointed this upgrade to a previous 250k recorder by Sony we purchased was not an improvement and proves more difficult to operate. Sony got this upgrade wrong.
