john/Birmingham, Always use sat nav

Score 4.0/10
Good points:
the size of the screen was good.
Bad points:
I found it complicated to use. I found the product over priced. The cost of updating the maps is too expensive. The battery would not hold its charge and the price for repairs and service was as expensive as buying a new sat nav from a competitor.

Confirmed purchaser Always use sat nav

Score 2.0/10
Good points:
Limited settings to choose from, good for technophobes.

Encourages you to learn how to use the sun to estimate direction.
Bad points:
Slow to find satellites - especially when starting from a new location. Many times >15 minutes.
Command response is so slow it appears to be not working.
No user defined POI. Saved routes + favourites limited and awkward to use. Slow response makes it worse.
Speed & routing options limited. Way too optimistic. 'small car' seems to be 'max speed limit' , 'medium' msl +10% etc.
No user map corrections.
Windows only software. Considering the limited features could be considered a good point. No generic usb mass storage access.
New roads send it haywire. The Newrie bypass had it indicate I was driving in random directions along random roads.
My route was meant to go via a petrol station on the (now) old road. Instead of showing my true position but with no road, the satnav kept jumping to the closest (unreachable) farm track which could be >1/2 mile away in any direction and then calculate a 10 mile round trip. Useless.

Lincoln, Hyde Always use sat nav

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
The Sony sat nav system is a great product for the price and what you get, it is of a perfect size for any car and has a brilliant touch screen function. Overall I have been impressed with the Sony NV-U82 , although only had it a short time it has helped out no end.
Bad points:
Takes time to register the satellites, hard to get updates for this model now? I think Sony should reconsider upgrades for this model at a reduced cost.
