Good points:
The offset balance (front heavy) is not as bad as I expected form reading other reviews.
When held correctly, or on a tripod this is of no issue.
Image quality is just lovely.
I purchased this to create promotional business videos.
Bad points:
Access to controls under flip out screen is annoying.
Not easy to make adjustments using these when trying to use viewfinder.
These are points you would expect on what I consider a Pro-sumer product.

Good points:
Build quality. Lens quality. All you need in one box. Point and shoot straight from box. Size.
Bad points:
No manual control of sound. Canon did it on 5DMkii with firmware upgrade - I'm sure Sony can......
Then it would be Awesome!

Good points:
Genuine cinematic image and superb sound - just returned from holiday with stunning video of Machu Pichu....
Bad points:
No shoulder strap supplied and NOT available in UK..appalling!!! Battery compartment comes with flimsy cover which I threw away..serves no useful purpose, I use a rifle grip otherwise the camera is out of balance because the lens is so heavy. The eyepiece viewfinder swithches off when the video screen is opened-annoying, the video screen is not reversible, the camera strap obstructs the record button-maybe why the manufacturer does not include one as standard, the HDMI socket is non-standard mini version requiring a special cable.....just not user-friendly...this camera was brought to market with out any user testing whatsoever I think.......which is a real pity......

Good points:
Quality of footage is great!
Bad points:
I have had nothing but trouble since purchasing this product. The casing has split for the second time where the camera is held due to sweat clearly not fit for purpose as the camera has been rearly used since purchase. The delay in record button makes having a camcorder completely useless when it decides to start recording you missed the best part!

I am also unable to make any adjustments to white balance or other settings through the viewfinder, doesnt seem to make any sense to me.

The service provided by Sony has been terrible in correcting these issues it’s now going back for the third time in the space of six months.

Danilo, Pula Professional videographer

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Good quality HD footage.
Good optics.
Functions could be improved, but good for the price range.
Memory card expandability.
LCD.
Bad points:
AVCHD is OK, but it is too compressed and once unpacked (In Avid for exp.) it influences image quality, especially in blacks and whites.
It is a semi-pro camcorder, not a consumer one and it needs more professional format to "pack" the footage. MXF would be fine.
That being said MXF does take a lot of space so additional, greater capacity cards, are necessary. 32GB limit is not OK. Memory cards are too expensive. Zoom quality is OK, but 11x optical zoom sometimes is not enough. Poor low light working conditions.

It is a good camera for the money but, in my opinion, more can be offered for the same amount.
