Good points:
Easy to use. You can purchase a bigger battery and very high capacity SD cards which it ideal for for holiday video. Lots of video can be stored and you can be out and about for hours with a large battery and not have to worry about charging it. The video files can be read from the SD card very easily and are not very big. I don't hook the camera up to the PC, but just pop the card out and slip it into my own card reader, so transferring video is easy.
Bad points:
Quality of video is not that good, (nowhere near as good as my previous DV tape Sony Handycam). If you want quality, you will require a HD camcorder or a DV tape type, but video files will be much bigger.

Good points:
All ready left a review on the Sony DCR-SX45E Handycam and there has been a lot of people that say the problem they are having is to do with the viewing screen, that they can't see the image they are filming. The way that I got around this was to alter the screens brightness to fully bright and that seems to have worked. I used my cam at Goodwood Festival of Speed and was able to track the car's well and the finished image is superb.
Please note that this is to help other's that have experianced the same thing as I have regarding the screen.

Good points:
Takes a removable SD memory card which can fit in most modern computers to easily store footage or you can swap the SD card to expand your storage of data.
Good that it has an integral usb plug which means you can access the basic software to download onto something else which means you wont lose all your footage if anything happens to your camera as it would if you didn't off load it.
My last video camera was stolen with my whole holiday's footage on it. With the combination of removable SD card and ability to download footage while away from my main PC I hope this would never happen again.
Bad points:
Cant think of any, except I like a neck strap as I can have camera out at the ready, and had to buy one separately.

Bad points:
My camera had a problem. Because I had bought it through EBay (new) Sony would not honour the warranty and wanted more money to fix it then the camera cost, which is ridiculous.

I will never buy another Sony product.

Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Lightweight and relatively easy to use..
Bad points:
Screen is so reflective that frequently on a sunny day unable to view scene you are trying to photograph or record and have to take potluck. Longer life batteries are very expensive but necessary if you want to do long recording.
