Even on a bright sunny day - the flash gun pops up - irritating. Body quality could be better . Manual could be more "user friendly".

Good points:
It is a perfect camera for an amateur or professional alike. The various settings help with "easy" modes for those that are learning photography.
Superb LED screen - the tilting facility is a big plus.
Bad points:
The zoom would have been better placed where the shuttle wheel is. Not very easy being placed on the Shutter button!

Confirmed purchase: 15 Feb 2011

Ray , Chichester Keen amateur

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Panorama option good and easy to use. Zoom capability and image quality very good and stable even at full zoom.
High speed burst mode (up to 10 frames/sec) vary good but ... (see "Bad points").
Bad points:
Filter thread is on lens outer casing, not lens. Therefore, cannot add filters with also needing an extension tube, because lens extends when camera switched on. Extension tube can cause severe vignetting on wide angle pictures as tube appears in view.
Lens cover also clips onto same thread and if accidently not removed before switching camera on probably puts undue strain on lens motor.
Why oh why didn't they put thread on lens like everyone else?!

Although burst mode very good, it takes a long time to save and can miss next shots due to the time delay before camera will take another/more shots.

Digital Cameras Buyers' Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Advanced features, amazing responses

Step up to a new world of superlative image quality and professional features. Loaded with advanced functions, its the worlds first camera that teams Sweep Panorama, ultra-fast 10fps shooting and HD movie recording.

Experience the whole picture

Now it’s easy to grab breathtaking wide-screen views of that landscape or city scene. Sweep Panorama mode shoots a high-speed burst of frames as you sweep the camera from side to side (or up and down!). Images are stitched together automatically by the camera to create one amazing panoramic image.

Get closer to your subject

A high-quality Optical Zoom lens gets closer to the action, letting you fill more of the frame with distant subjects. Unlike digital zoom, youll get uncompromised image quality at all settings even high magnifications.

Pack more into every scene

Dramatic landscapes, architectural shots, interiors and even family scenes can produce disappointing results when a scene gets cut off at the edges. A wide angle lens lets you pack more into the picture without having to stand further back from the subject.

The camera that thinks its a camcorder

Left your camcorder behind? Don’t worry: now you can capture crisp, clear HD movie clips at an incredible 30 frames per second for smooth, clear action. Watch the results on your BRAVIA television: you’ll be amazed by the quality, detail and colour.

Freeze the action

Its fascinating to catch every instant of a golf swing or a bird in flight. High-speed shooting grabs a continuous burst of images at full resolution. Faster than many professional digital SLR cameras, its a great way to capture rapid movement without sacrificing image detail.
