Good points:
Compact design with easily interchangeable lenses. Some very useful features for the beginner like superior auto.
Bad points:
Only criticism is that it probably has too many features quorum the beginner which can make it complicated

Good points:
Once you get the hang of the daft layout and the endless menu-hopping, the output can be very rewarding, especially with RAW images. It came with the Sony 19 & 18-55 lenses and at first I wasn't too happy with the results so I purchased a Nikon to Sony manual lens adapter and the results were amazingly good even with my oldest F lenses. I then downloaded DxO Pro 8 Elite and this has transformed the Sony lenses too. My final addition was the very good electronic viewfinder which is really necessary for use with longer lenses. Perseverance pays off with this camera. A3+ prints are very good.
The Sony software is quite extensive but is slow to react.

Bad points:
This is not a camera to make a quick judgement on. The operating controls are too fiddly and too easily altered unknowingly. It also takes too long to process RAW images.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Great in low light conditions. Great quality pictures.
No shutter delay - picture taken quickly on pressung button
Panaoramic function is very clever
Intelligent auto works well. Lots of modes.
Bad points:
Very difficult to see the screen in sunlight. Could the screen have a matt finish? I don't want to buy a view finder at over £200.
Access to menus is not fast and takes some getting used to.
Camera should come with the more compact 18x50 SELP lens as standard that I bought separately.
Accessories seem expensive

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Excellent quality and range of operations.
Bad points:
Awkward to hold with larger hands. Would prefer printed manual to on line one. Would have preferd a viewfinder as well as screen as screen is difficult to see in bright conditions.
