Good points:
Has the feel of a pro camera, reasonably weighty and excellent (useable) features. Superb focusing, and image quality.
Bad points:
I haven't really found any yet, although I wish camera manufacturers in general would install a glass LCD screen since the plastic will be prone to scratching every time nose prints are wiped off. I have placed a GGS glass cover over mine, but it could be improved.

The user manual could be improved.

Good points:
I picked this product up cheapily as it is o longer in production. The Lens kit available with this package is excellent and made the camera itself very cheap. The controls are initially intuitive and having access to a wide range of functions by simply located buttons is a vast improvement over my 350D. It enables you to quickly alter aperature, shutter speed, ISO etc without routing through menus and it is possible to do all this whilst looking through the view finder.

Solidly built and taking a bit of a bashing already. It's on the heavy side but that is to be expected for a higher end camera. Was a little sceptical prior to purchasing due to its branding but they seem to have built well onto there predessesors foundations and have produced a great camera. Good battery life, exceptional LCD display (not live view but who needs that). This is a brief review but I am so very happy, I am definitely an enthusiastic amature and I felt this camera for the price with awesome lens kit (worth about 2/3 of the total price paid) was well worth it, great quality camera at a fraction of the cost of the 50D (both of these are most likelyt better cameras but I don't quite need that quality - although I think this kicks the D90's ass or at least is very much on a par but again better build (magnesium alloy body) and cheaper! As with all camera's shop around, play as much as you can and see what you like. This was an ugly duckling but was just so much easier to use and far less fiddly than the 500D and D90 that were the othrs I was looking at (also cheaper and to my mind better...although many will disagree very strongly). Head onto dooyoo for mor extensive good reviews or google the camera for a more formalised comparison (it stood up well to comparisons with the 50D).
Bad points:
Some say limited range of lenses but for me the range of lenses available is excellent and older lenses with Alpha fit lens will work well. As it's an older camera there is no HD film capability but I'm not intending on becoming Ridley Scott so I do not care!

The menue is very easy to use,
The menue display is exelent and easy to read
The start up speed ia exelent ,
The focus is very acurate, and very fast .
It feels like a very well built and thought out camera.
I like the way the battery pops out under tension for easy replacement.

The lens cap is not a very good fit , and the lens hood is a little difficcult to fit in reverse for storage

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I am a Sony fan this is the third camera I have had it is my first DSLR I tested a few others by canon and nikon and when I tried the A700 it felt comfortable I am still getting used to it but it is easy to use and you can make things simple or complex with good results
Bad points:
I am not a photographer so do not have a lot of knowledge to test this against but I havent found a bad side to it yet except when I take a bad shot I have so far found it is down to the way I have used the camera
