Good points:
This is an exceptional 50 MM :) Much better than the Nikon and the Canon one's. I Actually sold my Nikon 50 MM 1.4 D and then bought this one. And it is the right thing to do. Also since it has the standard 77 MM filter size I can use my common filter for all my pro lenses.
Bad points:
The M and A button sticks out a bit. The Hood could better build quality to match the actual lenses quality. The Cap also could be better!

Good points:
Great wide aperture - low light shooting is especially good on this Sony mount due to Sony Alpha built in anti-shake. Indoor shooting at ISO 200 hand held gets great results. The Bokeh is lovely to due to the curved aperture blades (the out of focus areas are nice and smooth). Manual focus ring is nice and positive.
Bad points:
Don't have any.

Simon,

Good points:
Fast focus and very sharp even wide open - my copy doesn't exhibit the mis focus tendencies of some. Better build quality than the Nikon 1.4 and much faster focus - the size difference also makes it better balanced in the hands

A great lens
Bad points:
No product guarantee as it seems Sigma UK don't recognise their own, Japanese manufactured products, unless supplied by a UK based supplier!

Good points:
Some really fantastic results can be had from this quality glass. The Bokeh is as good as the other reviews say it is! The detail it can resolve is awesome and the low light shutter speeds are also fantastic.
Bad points:
It is large and weighty. That's either good or bad depending on your perspective but i really like its mass, it seems to balance my camera really well. If your kit bag is already heavy or you want to travell light then look elsewhere. Its not for the complete novice, although it is capable of taking astonishing images its also easy to take very poor ones! The focus is millimetre critical at F1.4!
