Good points:
this lens is built like a battleship, it stays on my camera and is my 'go to' lens of choice. I purchased a canon 50mm prime lens at the same time but find the image quality to be inferior to the sigma. The lens, although not a true 'macro' focuses so closely as to make it viable for this kind of work. A truly versatile lens for all general situations
Bad points:
none whatsoever

My third of these lenses (my clumsiness to blame for the accidental damage to the other two) and I would recommend them unreservedly.

Good points:
Excellent value for money, picture quality hard to fault (haven't used it in bright conditions yet)
Bad points:
Zoom rotation is a little stiff, maybe while new (?), although for a 17-70 mm range it shouldn't matter much
