Score 9.0/10
Good points:
picture quality can't be bettered , tried quite a few freeview boxes , currently using a BT Vision box as this gave the best quality picture but just put this box onto my partners 42 LCD and was pleasantly surprised just how clear the picture quality is . Seriously thinking of getting myself one too - although not able to get all 3 HD channels in my area until early next year .
Bad points:
as with ALL PVRs , fan noise can be quite noticable at times but as they all need a cooling fan , just have to put up with it.

Good points:
Looks good, intuitive to use and works very well. Nice EPG and menu appearance. Does a very good job upscaling basic SD freeview signal to HD.
Bad points:
Slightly noisy fan, really bright blue LEDs on the front look nice during the day, but can glare watching films in a dark room and can't be turned down or off.

Score 5.0/10
Good points:
Very good menu system, easy to use.
Bad points:
No clock on display. Also no display of which channel is current. If set to record a current programme while turned on, you cannot put it in standby mode untill recording has finished, unlike the SKY+ box. After using it for about one month, I can say that it works well: it only failed once to record a programme. We do not have Freeview HD in my region yet, so I cannot say how well it would work with Freeview HD.

Bad points:
curser buttons could be more prominent, no live catch up, seem to record all night when set for 1 programme, blue lights are strong for a bedroom apart from that a good machine

Score 3.0/10
Good points:
It works and found all the channels I expected. It was relatively inexpensive given that it records HD.
Bad points:
I am using this as a replacement for a Topfield TF5800PVR which died unexpectedly after many years of loyal service. I am using it with an SD box but got it as we anticipate upgrading to HD at some time.
All the reviews seemed to be pretty good so we went ahead and orderd it. Bad mistake.
While the navigation and menu system appears to be clear, having used a Toppy, it is not in the same class.

For example:
You cannot generate directories, sort programs by name or size or many of the other features of the standard EPG on the Toppy.
You cannot skip fast to a different point in a movie.
You cannot leave markers for example at the end of adverts so you skip to or past things on films regularly viewed.
You don't appear to be able to copy items.
You cannot download films to a computer as fara as I can see.
The front panel is pointless and shows no information - like time, current channel, etc as well as being a very penetrating blue, even when switched off.
I haven't investigated the internet connection yet and maybe it will redeem itself with an upgrade.
And maybe it will be possible to do some of these things via a computer but the Toppy could do all these out of the box.

I cannot recomment this unit to anyone unless they just want a simple device to delay viewing.
Proper PVRs enable you to organise your TV habits.
