Would not recommend this, broke after only two uses! Buy an electrical one if you can, we had one of these for several years without a problem.

Well made, extremely easy to convert from blowing to sucking, very precise control of suction and blowing force, powerful in both modes, well balanced, look like a quality piece of kit, well designed overall
Bad points:
Quiet heavy, shoulder harness a bit awkward to use, unable to re-start machine if it stops when using shoulder harness, had to adjust tickover from new kept stopping but easy to do.

Andrew, Berkhamsted Practical and mechanically astute!

Score 3.0/10
Good points:
When leaves are dry and you can get it started, it sucks up leaves as described.
Bad points:
Not easy to start to say the least. Like many people, I had to replace the first machine I received as I spent well over an hour trying to start the blessed thing despite following the instructions assiduously. Even the second machine is temperamental - even when warm-starting - but I have, so far, managed to get it going each time. Damp leaves (such as one gets in autumn!) tend to clog up inside the top of the tube so that, after half an hour's use or so, you have to poke around with a bamboo cane up the tube to try and get the mush past the spinning blade into the bag. The bag has a ring at the thin end that goes into a plastic clip halfway down the tube. It's not easy to get on and off and you end up placing the whole thing down to get it off which aids wear on the bottom of the bag! The harness is the cheapest thing I have come across but it is essential as the machine is very heavy and any more than 20 minutes use will have your arms and back complaining for rest! However, it is impossible to start the machine whilst wearing the harness so you have to start the machine and THEN manoeuvre yourself into the harness! It's difficult enough working out which strap goes over which shoulder without having to lug the machine round with it AND avoiding the hot exhaust at the same time! There is a release clip on the harness but it's so difficult to get it on and off the machine you soon give up trying.

Overall, very disappointing and I wish I'd never bought it!

David, Chorleywood Cheap rubbish

Score 1.0/10
Good points:
The machine is cheap and as I discovered there are good reasons for this! The only redeeming feature, and the main reason I selected it is that the machine can easily be changed from blowing to vacuum mode by turning a handle, rather than having to stop the engine and attach an additional pipe. However, what is the point if it breaks down all the time - see below...
Bad points:
- Hard to start: I have used a lot of 2 stroke machines in the past but this had to be the hardest to start of any of them by a long margin.

- Poor build quality: As many other online reviews suggest, the pull cord mechanism is very flimsy and mine broke after less than a year of light seasonal use. In addition the fuel line came away from the tank and leaked petrol everywhere rendering the machine unusable.

- Poor performance: If you check the small print on the specs, the output air flow is 13 m/sec. In practice this is extremely poor and is useless for anything other than bone dry leaves. Compare to an equivalent Stihl model which is more compact and lighter and you see it's air flow is a whopping 85 m/s!!!
