S B, Hayes

Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Clear picture and sound.

The actual freeview box is a nice design.
Bad points:
The TV guide is quite annoying to use as you can't keep watching the channel that's on, it switches off the channel to the guide.

It also isn't easy to use the guide and goes into the timer when all you want to do is view the information.

I paid extra for a Philips one thinking it might do a little more than the cheaper versions but the cheaper one that it was replacing was much better and half the price.

Manufacturer's Description

Enjoy the enhanced picture and sound quality of digital broadcasts giving you access to additional channels. All your TV programmes brought to you in a stylish and compact design, with improved energy consumption.

Access to digital broadcast

Freeview access to digital TV and radio channels
You want to continue watching the publicly broadcast channels as well as the additional digital channels available on Freeview. Your digital TV receiver also gives you access to MHEG services, such as on-screen EPG, games and videotext. No subscription required to receive the most popular TV channels in the UK brought to you in digital quality.

Superior audio and video quality

Built-in Pulse Killer Chip neutralises interferences
Electrical interferences are neutralised by a built in chip called PKC

Digital audio output for surround sound
With a digital audio output, you can immerse yourself in the programme that you are watching and enjoy the surround sound that is being broadcasted in the TV programme. Simply connect a cable from the connector for digital audio output (this can be cinch or optical connector, depending on availability on the product) and the digital audio signals in the broadcasted programme will be output to the Dolby Digital certified home theatre system (or an audio amplifier) for processing into a 5.1 audio experience on the loudspeaker boxes.

RGB output on SCART
RGB on Scart is a cable connection that provides easy connectivity for high-quality video output.

Easy to use

Low power consumption for environmentally-friendly living
You want to play a part in protecting the environment by reducing energy consumption, while paying less for your electricity bills. The product is able to switch into low power consumption of < 2 W when you switch off the product.

7-day Electronic Programme Guide for the TV schedule
Would you like to know what the TV schedule is for today and even for the whole week? This way, you can be sure you won’t miss any of your favourite shows by planning your evenings or making pre-scheduled recordings. The EPG information is part of the broadcast data and, when available, this receiver compiles the programming details for the upcoming 7 days and lists it in an easy-to-read format for your reference. The EPG can be accessed via the menu, or by simply pressing the EPG button on the remote control.

Fast and automatic installation of new channels
With the launch of digital terrestrial TV, additional broadcast channels are made available. Also, the channel numbering can often be temporarily reshuffled during digital switchover. To ensure that you always have the access to all available channels, it is important that the product is able to scan and install new channels automatically. A very sensitive tuner in this product scans through the broadcasting network for new channels whenever the product is switched off. Whenever a new service is detected, it will be automatically updated and saved onto the channel list.

2 SCART connectors for connecting your TV and another source
2 SCART sockets allow you to connect to 2 devices simultaneously. One connection for the TV and the other, either to a DVD recorder or VCR for recording TV content, or to a video playback device, such as a DVD or Blu-ray player. Simply connect the SCART sockets on the product to the desired device by a SCART cable, to enable transmission of the video signals.
