Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Easy to get to use straight away using basic functions. Produces great shots both close up and using the maximum zoom. E-zoom is a great feature but not well explained in the literature.
Bad points:
Need to download full operating instructions from CD. Some features not very well explained so take some working out. No viewfinder! Taking shots in bright sunlight can be tricky.

Good points:
I did a fair bit of research before I opteded for the TZ9. It's a great point and shoot that works very well and it can also be used as a more technical camera if you want to get creative. The range of settings and adjustments are superb for a compact camera, although the instruction booklet is only available online as a PDF. Not too much of a problem as you can print off the pages you think you may need to refer to 'on the go'.
I did look at the TZ10 but decided I didn't need the GPRS facility, especially with the reported extra battery drain. I bought the TZ9 to supplement my Canon DSLR and its a great little camera for carrying around everyday. It fits into a pocket/handbag easily.
Pictures are clear & sharp and the range of zoom should keep all but the most demanding photographer happy. If it's within your budget, go for it. You won't be disapointed.

All in all, a good buy.
Bad points:
No case included, which I feel there should be at this price. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase.

Good points:
Easy to use with the Inteligent Auto feature covering most situations, fantastic zoom.
Bad points:
Battery life is dissapointing, auto focus can get confused in Macro Mode. Menus aren't obvious if you switch from IA and the manual is a pdf, so not easily available.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Brand reliability and quality. Good 12x optical zoom in a compact body with the option to exercise manual control.

Fills the product gap very well between the TZ8 (no manual controls) and the TZ10 (too many bells & whistles).
Bad points:
None that have been found so far.
