Good points:
Small size and good focal length range for a walk-about camera. Full manual controls and straightforward menu system. Excellent picture quality for a sensor of this size.
Bad points:
Not able to use filters without the extension tube. No built-in ND filter which I see the LX7 has.

Good points:
I brought this to take pics and movies of my little boy.

The quality of the pics is amazing compared to my last camera. I have used the autofocusing facility only and although my wife has struggled with this I have had no problems at all. When you part push the shutter the LCD shows green boxes over what it is focussing on. If you don't like what the camera has chosen then release the button and try again until you get what you want.

The movies are HD quality with very good sound. I read loads of reviews on cheaper cameras with HD Movie Mode that complained of hearing the zoom motor over the movies. No such problems with the LX5.

Battery indicator is very simple but does the job. When the battery is low an indicator shows :). Charge time is acceptable at 2-3 hours.
Bad points:
- Shoulder stap is flimsy
- Lens cap the same

Both can be replaced easily by purchasing alternative kit but it is irritating to have to do when spending so much in the 1st plase

Good points:
Great camera with plenty of manual control. Can also take pictures in RAW, which is what I required. Amazing picture quality. Solid build. Very, very pleased I chose this after AGES looking at my options for a portable camera to back up my DSLR when I didnt want to lug all my equipment around.
Bad points:
There is a slight delay on the saving photos taken in RAW, but so far this has not distrupted me. Mine is still left in the RAW setting.
It is heavier than you might expect for its size, but again I find this reassuring.
