Good points:
Good quality filming, though hd uses a lot of storage, also good in poorly lit areas. Zoom is excellent although to use the advanced zoom you need a tripod or a very steady hand. The flip screen allows easy viewing and can be tilted/angled to avoid glare
Bad points:
Does come with case but you can get one cheap on eBay, need to buy some memory too

Good points:
Image quality, both video and still.
Ease of use.
Packed with all the features and sometimes more than you would get in a compact camera twice the price.
Bad points:
A nice dedicated cloth case would be good, Mr Panasonic?
Gloss finish shows fingermarks, but minor problem.

Camcorders Buying Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Upright Full-HD Camcorder

Even with its light weight and slim design, the HX-DC10 renders images in breathtaking, Full-HD (1920 × 1080) beauty. BSI (Backside Illumination) sensor technology has improved the sensitivity of the CMOS sensor, making it possible to shoot images with high-resolution Full-HD quality even in dimly lit areas. * “Full-HD video with 1920 × 1080 pixels” in Panasonic Upright HD Camcorder refers to video recordings with 1920 pixels in the horizontal direction and 1080 pixels in the vertical direction.
The HX-DC10 shoots 16-megapixel high-resolution still pictures. Depending on the situation, you can flexibly shoot either high-quality photos or videos by using only the thumb to press the desired button, without having to change modes.. You can also capture 2-megapixel still images while recording a videos by simply pressing the Still button. * Varies depending on the Video mode used for shooting.
With both photos and videos, iA does the bothersome settings for you and makes it easy to capture beautiful images. Intelligent Scene Selector analyzes shooting situation and automatically switches the camera to the suitable scene mode. Face Detection automatically senses the ambient lighting and adjusts the exposure accordingly, so faces are bright and easy to see, and E.I.S. (Electrical Image Stabilizer) helps to correct hand-shake blurring. * The functions included in iA may not be applied when conditions do not call for them.
In addition to an optical 5x zoom, the New High-Quality Image Engine of the HX-DC10 lets you shoot videos with a maximum 12x Advanced Zoom with no image quality degradation.* You can get a flexible shooting range, from wide-angle to dynamic zooming. * Only for video recording at 30p. When shooting photos, the maximum zoom is 5×.
The HX-DC10 features a 3.0" wide-screen LCD monitor that allows the brightness to be adjusted in seven levels. It also rotates through approximately 285º, so you can easily position it at your preferred angle. This lets you keep your subject clearly in view, whether you’re shooting high, low, or at yourself and your pets. **The LCD in the model for Europe is described as being 7.52cm (which equals 3.0 inches).
