*** BEFORE I START I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I RECIEVED THE UPDATED NVIDIA CERTIFIED MODEL (Optoma HD67n) THAT COSTS MORE***

Hooking this up to a Blu ray player is completely .. 100%... awesome. I can assure you the quality, despite being 720P, is just as good as a 1080p monitor. I'm currently projecting it onto a fairly smooth matt white wall and the colours are fantastic.

I would like to point out though, text isn't the sharpest on word applications (due to not being 1080p). If you are sitting a fair distance away it's fine though. Although, I imagine most of people will be buying this for Home Theatre and gaming use.

I made a long discision whether to opt (no pun intended) for a 1080p projector or not. At this price you are getting a BARGAIN of a projector. 3D capabilties and FANTASTIC image quality. If you are going for a very large (120" +) screen and sitting within 8 feet then you may want consider a 1080p projector. But seriously, you will be turning your head side to side at that distance !!!

Bad points:
Out of the box the image is a little strange. A slight adjustment is needed on the brightness as you will find the image will VERY heavily emphasised on the reds.

This, like a lot of projectors, pumps out alot of heat. I'm talking HOT heat. I strongly recommend that you turn on "High altitude" in your bulb settings on the projector. Although a little noisier, it will make your bulb last longer.

A bit of light leakage around vents but that is expected.

ANSI Contrast

ANSI Contrast† is a way of measuring the true “real world” contrast performance you can expect from a projector in your own home. This measurement technique includes a reproducible procedure that can be used to compare the performance of projectors using different display technologies. With an ANSI contrast ratio significantly higher than many LCD based projectors, the HD67 is the only choice for Home Cinema purists that expect ultimate image fidelity in their home.

Don’t be misled by contrast ratio specs – a projector with a contrast ratio specification of, for example, 10,000:1 may well have an ANSI contrast ratio specification significantly lower than the HD67. Contrast ratio specifications are typically measured using a “Full On, Full Off” technique. This involves measuring the projector performance when displaying a pure black screen and then a pure white screen. Many believe that “Full On, Full Off” contrast measurements may not depict “real world” performance and may not offer the relevant information needed to determine how a projector will look when you are watching movies in your home. If you want to compare projector contrast specifications look for the ANSI contrast specification.
