Good points:
Good picture quality
Bad points:
Broke after 15 months. HDMI failure which is common. Optoma UK (TSC Europe) are appalling in terms of customer service. Eventually got them to take it back but they wanted nearly four hundred pounds to fix it. A complete disgrace. Optoma only give 1 year warranty, Benq, Acer and Epson give 2 years. Won't be replacing it with the Optoma 141X that's for sure!

Good points:
Amazing! can't imagine spending more money thinking it will increase quality, cos this is just the job.
I think 3D is a matter of preference, with nothing to compare I was still impressed.
Bad points:
Not a bad point but it throws out quite a bit of heat.

Mark, Torquay Very Happy Customer

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Fantastic picture quality, we use a 120" roll down screen form e Bay and image quality is as good as our Panasonic 50" TV.
2 HDMI inputs, we use 1 and use a splatter as we have 5 devices that need connecting on the other end of the room so a cheap long 10m hdmi cable does the job around the room.
Bad points:
Menu is a little slow to navigate.

To get full effect the room should be pitch black (but this is with all projectors so not really a bad point)

Ian, Reading Home cinema geek!

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I had an old Optoma HD70 before, so this compares the two. this one:
* Is much brighter
* 3D is good (even with cheap chinavision DLP Link glasses)
* much quieter - though my HD70 may have got noisy with age
* Very vibrant colours

Overall a brilliant projector for £500
Bad points:
I had an old Optoma HD70 before, so this compares the two. this one:
* Is not completely sharp - can't get top and bottom sharp at the same time, maybe this is due to placement
* I see more rainbow effect on dark screens with some white graphics - may just be because it's much brighter.
* Blacks are more grey - but not really a problem, just because the projector is much brighter.

Combine this with active-motion gaming (such as X-box Connect) for the closest thing to your very own virtual reality suite.

Long Lamp Life & Brighter As Well!
The new lamp technology incorporated into the HD131Xe extends lamp life up to an incredible 8000 hours – 2000 more than the previous HD131X. If you watch a two hour movie every day then typically the lamp will last for over 8 years. As well as offering a longer life, the lamp is now 500 lumens brighter than before (2500 ANSI lumens [HD131Xe] VS 2000 ANSI lumens[HD131Xe]), helping ensure a perfect picture in a bright room.

Why use a projector for 3D?
It is a widely accepted fact that the bigger the image, the greater the 3D effect – for the best results it is essential to fill your field of vision, without having to be too close to the screen. Even a huge 50” TV can only create a window on the 3D world, whereas the immersion & excitement created by a massive 150” projection screen makes you feel like you are part of the action!
