Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Excellent 20x optical zoom, very versatile range of controls and program modes, good picture quality, easy to use. A very good camera.
Bad points:
No major bad points, the following are relatively minor points which will be ironed out when I have a better understanding of the extensive controls, (practice makes perfect).
Focusing can be tricky in certain circumstances particularly in manual mode. Using the flash it can be difficult to get the right exposure, a bit hit or miss, but its probably part of the learning curve and getting used to the camera.

Geoff, Oxford

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
My first step up from a compact so no real experience of any other super-zoom products. Feels very solid and robust, which is what I wanted as my last Sony compact lasted less than 2 years and also why I moved to a specialist camera manufacturer and away from "the jack of all trades and master of none". Takes AA batteries which I consider essential as "bespoke" batteries always go flat at the wrong moment and AA batteries are universally available everywhere. The 20x zoom is incredible but you need steady hands! Still exploring the feature set but the panorama mode is excellent. Overall I am very pleased.
Bad points:
Still getting use to the extra bulk of a super-zoom over a compact, but generally this is not a problem and not really a fault of the camera but more an outcome from my decision to step up from a compact. For outdoor photography in bright conditiona I like to use the "view finder" but this is actually a very low res LCD screen of some sort, and the very low res often fools you into thinking you have captured something well and then only to find it is as blurry as a blurry thing when you view it back home on the PC :-(
