Score 6.0/10
Good points:
It works ok. Does what I need it to do.
Bad points:
Really bad service from Netgear. I called their call centre and was on the phone for over an hour and the operator eventually said they would call me back. This did not happen. They called me back a week later to ask if all was resolved. I told them it wasn't. They said they would call back and they didn't. Eventually I paid some one to fix it for me. I wouldn't buy one of thire products again.

Good points:
I've used it to extend my wireless coverage in my house. It has done this but I have a large (long) house and it has not extended coverage as far as I would have liked (through an external wall). Nevertheless it has certainly improved cover through most of the house.

Bad points:
The instructions aren't clear, and rely on the user actually knowing something not only about the computer they're trying to set up but also of networking. Definitely not a router for beginners, and despite having previous models of Netgear routers and thus more familiarity with the setup, I still had a great deal of trouble and am not completely satisfied that it's working properly even months after purchase.

I never actually managed to set up a connection to the router via ethernet cable, but inexplicably the wireless works (which is what I'd wanted anyway). This connection drops suddenly and pretty often throughout the day, taking several minutes to reconnect (and often requires a reset of the router where you also have to unplug and replug the telephone cable because the router doesn't want to recognise it).

The knowledge base on Netgear's website is difficult to navigate and requires logging in (which in turn requires some personal information I'd rather not give out just to get some help). There isn't much help available on the CD-ROM that comes with the router either, so if you're having trouble getting online with it to begin with, you're stuck. And if you do manage to contact them for help, their answer is usually "reset the router", which doesn't usually help with the root of the problem.
