Picks up well when it's new
Bad points:
Nearly everything else. I've had this vacuum for nearly 3 years now and it has been nothing but a headache. I paid the premium for what I believed was a quality vacuum after reading many good reviews. I had hoped it would last a long time and mean I wouldn't need to buy another vacuum for many years, how wrong I was. Within the first year it broke 3 times. The first time the lowering mechanism broke and started sticking into the floor, this was repaired under the warranty (having to send it away for repair for 3 weeks). Then the metal telescopic tube broke twice. The catch which clicks into the hose broke on two separate occasions, the first time leaving a very sharp edge and causing me to bleed everywhere. Again, replacements were sent out under the warranty. Since then just about everything has gone wrong with it. The lowering mechanism has broken again and it will no longer go down correctly, to make it worse the plastic cover which is supposed to slide over the mechanism as it comes back up is broken meaning you have to put your foot on it to push it down to allow it to come back up without getting stuck. Once of the wheels on the bottom is bent and twisted so it doesn't ride correctly. Most of the plastic base has either snapped or cracked so you can see all the electric wires inside. The plastic around where the screws are supposed to hold it together has all cracked or snapped away so the screws don't do anything any more. The locking mechanism which is supposed to keep the vacuum upright doesn't work so you have to put it against a wall when not using or it will just fall over. The roller brush no longer turns because the teeth which the belt goes on in order to turn it have all worn away and are just smooth now. I could go on, all in all this is by far the crappiest vacuum I've ever owned and i paid a premium for it! I feel really ripped off. The spare parts for this vacuum are also ridiculously priced! A new brush rolled, £150! More than half the price for the entire vacuum! For a premium vacuum from a supposed quality manufacturer I'm appalled at how poor this vacuum is. I'm sure some of you are probably thinking it was me mistreating the vacuum but not in the slightest. It has only ever been used to clean a small two bed house and only used a couple of times week. It looks like Miele are ok at making cylindrical vacuums but uprights? They should just not bother, utterly useless. My old vax (which was a lot cheaper and older) is still going strong. When it was new it was great, really good at cleaning but it soon starts to go wrong. Most of the reviews I've read are from people who have only recently purchased the vacuum, I'm sure if there were more long term reviews it would give a much better idea of the quality of this vacuum.

Easy to use with different carpet and hardfloor settings. Has a long cable and looks good. A good alternative to the Dyson for less money.

The clip that holds the hose broke off within one week, so the hoover had to be replaced.
