Most helpful reviews

Marc,

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
The last "great" old style operating system by Microsoft. Vastly superior to Vista. Easy to install. Loading graphics are pleasant enough. Have not explored all the extra's but the Bit locker is a very handy function, especially if you move information on a memory stick or sticks a lot. Still very much a worthwhile investment.
Bad points:
Price would put people off. Microsoft Customer Services are extremely poor and unwilling to help you. Networking is not as easy as intended.

Chi,

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
much easier to install compared to XP or Vista, less requirements to need rebooting etc etc etc ...
seems to be more resilient to crashed or Blue-Screens compared to XP.
Bad points:
UAC is a good thing, but it's annoying.
other things to get used to - default is that even as administrator, it's not normally possible to access the "Local Documents and Settings" directory ... just have to get used to them.

Douglas, Derby

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
A very comhrensive Operating system bought as an update to Windows XP Professional. However apart from the "eye candy" approach to this new OS, and the need to spend a huge amount on new hardware and software that is Win 7 aware, I believe Win XP is still THE BEST OS for most everyday tasks and then some.
Bad points:
I still feel Windows XP SP3 has a lot to offer, especially now that a fair amount of useful functionallity has been removed from WinXP Pro. Simplification of the GUI is reminiscent of a dumbing down in order to please a certtain section of PC users and leads to confusion for serious users of the Windows platform
