Good points:
Can run windows office (at extra cost to purchase)
Bad points:
I bought this Surface to try to use when travelling in place of my laptop so I could run Office. While it is somewhat lighter and more compact than my Sony laptop, it is simply not user friendly at all and was very expensive. I also own an Ipad which I find very intuitive to use. When Microsoft developed the Surface it is as if they didn't want it to be a copy of the Ipad so they made it incredibly different to use, but that translates as counter-intuitive, and it is a nightmare. The software also constantly hangs up and I am forever having to abandon what I am doing and restart it. I had plans to buy these for all our laptop users in the company but now I think Ill be putting this one on eBay!

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Great to be able to have fully functional Office suite on a tablet; also bought the 'Type' cover with 'click' keys which I have found to be far more accurate and responsive touch-typing experience (almost up to full touch-typing speed within a day of use). Ability to install 'regular' PC software on the desktop (i.e. not being limited to an App Store) is great. Also superb for powerpoint presentations - (a) USB connector allows a 'clicker' to be connected; (b) the mini Display Port to VGA connector (sold separately) allows for connection to regular projectors and (c) the pen allows for slides to be annotated, highlighted and marked up during the presentation.
Bad points:
Really need to go for the 256Gb model as an absolute minimum if you plan to do any serious work. Once you add on the keyboard at >£100, the convenience and portability does not come cheap.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Very powerful, this tablet can comfortably run CAD programs such as Pro Engineer and MasterCAM. Will also run most older game titles on low to medium settings. Boot up time is very quick, approximately 4 seconds. Very portable. The pen in conjunction with Microsoft One Note is very good and would be ideal for students. Snap on type cover is very well designed and not too cramped. Windows 8 ideally suited to this type of machine. Overall, excellent device for when travelling and require the functionality of a full windows 8 laptop.
Bad points:
Battery life is not comparable to traditional tablets, typically I get 4 hours when doing demanding tasks. High resolution screen can make the scaling of certain programs very small. Most traditional programs will need a mouse to be fully productive. Price will put off a lot of potential buyers. The type cover price is very high and is necessary to be fully productive on this type of machine. Weight means that it can be difficult to use for reading in certain positions. There is a considerable amount of glare from the screen

Good points:
It might be good if I could use it
Bad points:
The item I eventually received had a Spanish operating system so until I can find someone to reinstall the operating system I have no way of telling if it is any good or not.
