Mark, Stoke On Trent Keen amateur

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Good solid metal construction and adds a bit of height if using a smaller tripod like the Manfrotto 190XPROB which this head is used with.
Bad points:
Some may find it is quite heavy, but I don't find it a problem.

Expensive, but it's built to last.

Keen Beginner, Sydney

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I wanted the 498RC2 as a levelling base for a gigapan unit or a nodal ninja so it had to support a lot of weight and let me level the units quickly. I also wanted to be able to use it for the odd panorama when I didn't have the proper pan heads attached. I had a 3 way head which I found a bit too 'soft' and the other choices were the 2 joystick heads. As desired, I found the 498RC2 light, fast to set up, easy to use and very stable. I particularly like the RC2 locking system.
Bad points:
None for what I want it for.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Very sturdy and easy to use, the friction movement is good if a little bit sticky at first [hopefully this will ease with use.
Bad points:
Heavy, but sturdy design probably requires this.
