Score 9.0/10
Good points:
The machine washes and spins very quietly and washes the laundry well. The tune at the end of the cycle is useful because the machine is away in the utility room. However, the quality of the tune leaves a lot to be desired.
This model of machine is just about the most basic and cheapest that LG produce. I can't personally see any reason for going for anything more expensive.
Bad points:
The water valves crash noisily when opening and closing at the start of the cycle.

Good points:
It is so quiet compared with my old Indesit, Hope it lasts much longer than the 9 years the Indesit machine managed.
Bad points:
Long cycle times on some washes, but maybe there has to be a trade off between cold temperature washing and cycle time.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Quiet compared to other washing machines.
I find it easy to use.
Cleans well and spin seems to get more water out than previous machine.
Haven't emptied filter yet but it looked easy to do.

For the price it's a superb machine.
Bad points:
Some won't like the tune at the end, I find it funny!
No 30 degree wash, but it's still a lot more efficient than previous machine. 20 degrees might be fine for some washes, haven't tried yet.
There's a fairly large gap in the door seal, sometimes small items (like toddler socks) get caught in it, easily fixed with laundry bag.
My previous machine had a guide that matched programs to laundry symbols, this doesn't.

Struggling to think of any serious problems! I love it!

Manufacturer's Description

Its 7kg drum has enough wash capacity for about 35 T-shirts, great for small and medium-size households. There are 13 wash programmes to choose from, including a 30-minute quick wash for those in a hurry. Special cycles include a baby clothes cycle, wool wash, delicates wash and a programme to remove tough stains.

LG’s unique Direct Drive technology means your laundry will be treated to one of six distinct washing movements, providing you with excellent washing results. Since Direct Drive works without pulleys or belts, which use more energy and can wear out, you’ll lower your energy costs and save yourself the headache of replacing parts. Annual energy consumption averages at 156Kwh, which at 15p/unit will cost roughly £23.40 to run for a whole year.

The unit’s time delay function helps you to run the laundry on your schedule, so there won’t be wet clothes waiting in the washer for you. A child safety lock ensures the littlest members of the family stay safe. Plus, for added peace of mind there’s a two-year manufacturer’s warranty and a ten-year guarantee on the machine’s Direct Drive motor.

Eco-friendly. Wallet-friendly. One of LG’s most efficient washers, the F12B8QDA5 excels in both washing performance and energy saving. There are 13 wash programmes to choose from, including a 30-minute quick wash for those in a hurry. Its 7kg drum affords enough washing capacity for about 35 T-shirts – great for small and medium-size households. LG’s unique Direct Drive technology means your laundry will be treated to one of six distinct washing movements, providing you with excellent washing results. Plus, the advanced motor runs without pulleys or belts, so you can benefit from lower energy bills and a very low risk of breakdown.
