Good points:
its a lovely looking tv set with reasonable sound quality, menu system is clear and easy to use
Bad points:
well the picture quality is not what i expected maybe my expectations where too high..??viewing blue rays disc's with 100hz and 24p switch on is full of digital artefact's all moving objects go blurred with a predator beast like look in camouflage mode if you know what i mean?so view all movies with them off...WHY HAVE THESE GIZMOS IN THE 1ST PLACE WHEN THEY REDUCE THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURE QUALITY???? the screen in dimly lite scene's is uneven its brighter in the top right hand corner than in all others, but to be honest its just a middle of the roads lcd tv,which i intend to sell on soon and get myself a 47"led tv

Good points:
The LG 42LH4000 is great value for money. Offers a really nice picture quality and the design is really nice and everyone that has seen it thinks it cost much more than it did. Has plenty of features and settings available so that everyone can setup this tv just the way they like it. Highly recommended.
Bad points:
For the price there isn't really any major bad points. The sound from the internal speakers could be a little bit better but as I run mine through an external amp this isn't a problem. Overall I can't fault it.

Good points:
Sooo good, good image quality, loads of connectivity, built in freeview, nice remote, quite light, good value, the perfect 42" Plasma in my opinion
Bad points:
There are none! The ONLY little niggle is that the volume doesn't go down low enough! but, it's not something that i can complain about too much as i can just plug it into the surround sound anyway!

Manufacturer's Description

Customized modes for the content of your choice

LG TVs have three special modes (Cinema, Sport and Game modes) for enhanced picture and audio quality. These are easily accessible using the AV MODE hot key on the remote control.

The picture quality adjust system developed by the foremost experts in picture quality.

You’re the expert when it comes to adjusting the picture quality of your LG TV. The picture quality control guide program installed in LG LCD TV allows you to easily control the picture quality in following the adjust guide developed by visual specialists.

The power to control only the volume of voices

Sometimes when watching films it is difficult to hear voices over the background sound of their environment. The clear voice feature adjusts the sound balance to emphasise voices and reduce background noise.

Great sound is meant to be heard, not seen!

The front bezel works as a speaker, replacing the normal speaker grill. With the Invisible Speaker System, the speakers are embedded in strategic spots underneath and around the front bezel. They enhance the audio by increasing the ‘sweet spot’ to give a wider and richer sound field.

A Big Screen TV that Delivers Big Savings

The Backlight control function controls the brightness of the TV, while the Screen Off function lets you switch off the screen while keeping the sound alive. Stand by Mode 0 function sets your TV to a power saving mode where zero electricity is used. Added to these 3 basic power saving functions is the Intelligent Sensor function that controls automatically the brightness and the colour of the picture in accordance with the brightness and the colour of the viewing area. These are just some of the reasons why the majority of LG TVs have been certified by the Energy Saving Trust to save you money off your electricity bills.
