keith, Plymouth Just point and shoot

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Easy to use for point-and-shoot, and capable of more if you take the trouble. Compared to my old xx8 (tape) cameras, the results are amazing. You really need a good tripod to take full advantage of the zoom; then on playback you see things you didn't know were there!
Bad points:
Almost too small to use the controls - but that's a matter of practising.
The supplied battery (BN-VG107E) is OK for a reserve, but if you want to use the camera all day away from a charger, it needs the upgrade BN-VG114E. Apparently JVC recognised this, and I got one free with a voucher. I would have been disappointed not to have got this.
I have not yet found how to control the sound recording level - or even if it's possible. Post-filming processing is possible, but I'm not overly impressed with the bundled software for editing.

Bad points:
Down loading to a disc takes quite a long time.
And not the easiest instructions to follow during down loading.

David, Newtownards Experienced amateur

Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Small size and simple to use without any complicated functions. Has quite a good picture quality if you want a HD camera for general video use such as posting videos like vlogs on youtube or taking videos when you going out with friends etc.... Can upload direct to youtube which is a good feature

Doesn't have manual focus, but auto focus is very good.

Low light is very good on it, I can use it in lower lights than I am able

Has a quite good time lapse feature

Doesn't have manual focus, but auto focus is very good so manual focus is not really needed.

Low light is very good on it, I can use it in lower lights than I am able to with other video cameras I have used.
Bad points:
The title says "Full HD" but it only records in 720p HD not full 1080p HD. It says it can output 1080p (up-convert for 1920x1080p output) which isn't the same as recording in 1080p.

Battery that comes with it only last about 40 minutes which isn't very useful, but you can buy separate batteries that can last longer. Can use up to a 64GB SDXC card, which can record about 13 hours of video, which is only good if you either have camera plugged in or have spare batteries as I said above, battery that comes with it only lasts about 40 minutes which isn't long enough to shoot long (or a lot) of videos.

Image stabilization, to use it, if the camera isn't steady enough, you may get a slight but noticeable sound on the video itself of the camera trying to stabilize the video (sort of a cheep or a whir, something like that) which isn't what you would want.

Has a total 200x zoom (40x optical) but when zooming in, you lose quality the further you zoom in, so having that 200x zoom isn't worth it.
