Good points:
This processor worked perfectly for my gaming pc, added a fair few frames and what not to the graphics, but also every day tasks and even internet browsing seemed to be faster than my prevouis processor (The FX-8 Core Bulldozer). Also you dont have to worry about this processor becoming obsolete in the near future like you do with amd processors (intel wont be bringing out any new processors for normal pc's more powerfull than the sandybridge-e series, apart from the xeon's agleast) Amd are bringing out new processors every year which can be annoying to keep up with it.
Bad points:
too expensive in my opinion but i had the money, there is the cheaper quad core sandybridge-e but that didnt seem to be an improvement enough from the 8 core bulldozer. apart from the price cant argue

Good points:
Almost identical to the 3960x (-20% L3 cache) but at a little over half the price. Unlocked multiplier and easy to over-clock...

What's not to like?
Bad points:
OEM = NO FAN. You need your own cooling. Hence the set-up score.

Score 6.0/10
Good points:
6 cores, HT if you use it, reasonable over clocker.
Bad points:
Just way way over priced for minimal real world performance gains, pointless purchase if gaming is your thing.

Mark, Experienced system builder

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Very fast, and with plenty of overhead for overclocking when I have the time to do so. Out of the box this thing murders anything I throw at it. It's much better value for money then the 3960x and easily comparable in performance.
Bad points:
Haven't found any bad points yet. Of note, there is a hole in the top of the chip's cover by design.. it's not a black dot, it's actually a hole. Be careful when applying any form of liquid paste that is conductive...
