Ron, London. UK General home user

Score 7.0/10
Good points:
Appearance and generally a respectable design. It has a generous assembly of connection points for accessories, and has a good feeling in use. Unusually these days, there are fairly good pdf manuals available for the laptop on the internet. It did not break the bank.
Bad points:
The installed Microsoft Windows Defender anti-virus software is quite slow, and the laptop would be much better thought of if it had a back-lit keyboard

Although the provided facilities for restoration and backup of system images is very good, the overall description of how and when to use them is still a bit confusing. It might be better to advise owners to make a system image when they have set it all up, and then to give exhaustive details of what it does for them and how to do it. In this way they will have a good image of their configured build - otherwise they could be too confused by all of the facilities to bother.

Confirmed purchase: 17 Jun 2013

Kim, Whaley Bridge General home user

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Good value for the money. Does everything I need. Bear in mind that if you need to use Microsoft packages you will have to buy these separately as they don't come with the package but this is reflected in the price and does allow you the extra cash to spend on the one you want.
Excellent screen resolution.
Bad points:
Windows 8 can be tricky to use and is not to everyone's taste- should be offered a choice between Windows 7 or 8

Confirmed purchase: 14 Jun 2013

Alex, Poole General home user

Score 5.0/10
Good points:
Nice-looking machine, hardware seems fine.
Bad points:
Dreadful user interface on Windows 8 without the ability to revert to a more conventional setup. Changes from previous versions of Windows require too much of a casual user; having to re-learn so many basic functions is time-consuming and annoying which detracts from the experience. Navigation seems designed for touch screens primarily, making many functions harder or a lot less obvious when using touchpad and keyboard.
