Good points:
Very impressive graphics processing power for its price range. Able to run games like Left 4 Dead, World of warcraft ect at full graphics without any issues or frame rate drops. Would recommend it as a gaming laptop, as well as for home entertainment such as streaming media and watching movies with its large screen size.
Bad points:
Batterey drains fast when not plugged in, gets little over an hour battery life at normal settings.

Good points:
Nice Laptop, shame about the refurb
Bad points:
When you refurbed the laptop, inferior items were used.i.e. a slower 5400rpm hard drive instead of a 7200rpm hard drive. This gave me no faith that refurb is doing what is says 'As good as new' I was very disappointed and all my purchases of laptops now go to another source (7 laptops since).

Quin, UK General home user

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
The product is effectivley the last of the present large-screen laptops. Marketing strategy has been moved by the major manufacturers towards large-screen all-in-one computers instead,.
This model seems to be the culmination of a large-screen laptop design range, starting with the DV6.
There are quite a few innovative features now included with the range, not least is that of surface mount touch-sensitive controls for volume, and for starting wifi.
Personally I am dismayed to see the range discontinued, as I prefer the portability of a laptop coupled with the performance of a desktop
This unit was pruchased as a factory refurb under a seller's warranty rather than a manufacturers. We only found out about that when we attempted to acquire the genuine HP recovery discs. HP sysems permit the making of one set of recovery discs. They do not tell you however that if you experience a hard disc failure in the boot drive, that these recovery discs are effectively useless. You need the original HP recovery discs which you can buy from best2serve for 32-32, but which you can get at no cost to you upon application to HP and quoting UK consumer protection legislation.
One other thing, specifically not mentioned among manufacturers either but brought to light by the purchase of this unit, is that this seems to be the last laptop made with an Express Card Slot.
The Express Card type of expansion (and PCMCIA) appears to have been quietly killed off by laptop manufacturers. HPs new G72 range do not include it as an option.
Bad points:
Too early to judge any bad points really, although like most laptops made nowadays, the keyboard leaves a lot to be desired. The instaled Windows 7 64-bit may be keeping the bad points from us thus far.
From the user forums, it would seem that most users advocated the modification of one of the hard disc drive bays to include an SSD (solid state drive) instead, with which they can reportedly boot Windows 7 in seconds, rather than minutes.
This is of course a user-modificaton in design philosophy towards Windows Mobile, the backup/restore of which resides in prom, and the boot resides in live memory... giving almost instant-on boot.
It is probable that laptops generally will gravitate towards such a system in due time. The benefits are seriously starting to outweigh the cost now.

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Good screen size and resolution. Might take a little while to get used to the extra desktop space for someone who is upgrading. Nice powerful machine. If you can commit to using this on a desk, buy it.
Bad points:
Power jack is on the side, if you're using on your lap whilst plugged in, the charger lead will get knocked by the arms of an armchair, etc. Mine is being sent back for repair for this very reason (only 4 months since purchasing).

Build quality not exceptional, plastic housing seems a little too flimsy for the weight of the machine - but, hasn't caused any problems so far.
