Score 6.0/10
Good points:
Fast, Light, Quiet.
Bad points:
Overpriced even a refurb, Because it's a refurb signs of preownwership are all over it. Beats audio is rubbish, so quiet and tin sounding, (or is this because it's a refurb).

Stay away from Refurbs from the big outlets.

Hugh, Nottingham Often on the move

Score 8.0/10
Good points:
Performance of the HP Envy 1050EA is excellent. Running 10 or so windows and 4 or 5 programmes does not seem to affect performance at all.

The screen layout and keyboard layout are both extremely simple and setting up the laptop and developing your preferences is extremely pain free and you appreciate not being bombarded by every single programme wanting to update or know your preferences all at once.

The overall laptop design and shell is very smart and understated and a mile better than the previous shiny black and silver designs.

The screen is the perfect size for me and there are buttons that can alter the brightness of the screen in a second - which is fantastic when working in places with variable light.

The backlit keyboard and the load in cd-drive are both real assets and for me are both features that separates a good laptop from a very good, top end laptop.

The speaker audio system, once using headphones is incredible.
Bad points:
It is a reasonably heavy laptop (2.5kg) which may point some people off, but I have found it manageable and it's sometimes reasurring to have a laptop that feels sturdy.

The metallic shell is more often than not pretty cold, which is not always the nicest feeling when using - but probably beats the feeling of my ld laptop, which did not have as good a fan cooling system and got extremely hot when running more than 3 applications.

I have found that there is a small buzz/ electrical pulse running through the metal shell of the laptop when playing videos/ films. It is reasonably harmless but slightly unnerving.

Not a huge fan of the rubber bandning that is fixed across the sides of the screen - presumably as a shock absorber for when closing the laptop screen.

Although the audio system is incredible when using headphones, I found that the actual speak system - "Beats Audio" was extremely weak. I previously had a HP DV3 laptop, which used Altec Lansang speakers - planted next to the keyboard - instead of hidden away under the laptop - like the Envy speakers and the Beats Audio speakers are frankly no comparison and quite disappointing. I found it slightly insulting that they have sold the laptop as one with a very good speaker system and then once you look into it further they are actually promoting a good sound - when using headphones - which is not really the same thing.

Szadzik, MES Often on the move

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
Great design with ver good build quality. Metal case and really sturdy. The keyboard is great and the fact that it is backlight makes it even better. The specs are good and all in all the laptop was really worth a purchase.
You can also purchase an additional Slice Battery that will make battery life around 10 hours and that makes the laptop a real portable beast.
Bad points:
Screen could be radiance and not brightview with a bit higher resolution but on this size it is ok.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
Its a beautiful design with performace to match. Its an obvious choice for those who want a great laptop other than a MacBook Pro. Once you use the large touchpad, youll never want to go back. I put an SSD in mine and I have to say, using a lesser laptop is just painful.
Bad points:
To be completely honest, there is nothing I dont like about it.
