Good points:
really good price for a machine with such great specifications. The laptop came as almost brand new
Bad points:
The preinstalled HP software is a bit of a pain but once this is switched off the machine works a lot more efficiently

Good points:
Hdmi, quiet, price. Generally satisfied but could be alot better.
Bad points:
Glossy screen to reflective, Vista was deffinately a step backwards from XP-IMHO. Build quality a bit flimsy with some sharp edges. Black surfaces seem to scratch quite easily.

Good points:
Like the speed compared to my old HP, its very quiet operation, the look, and it was really easy to do the first time installation (did not have to do anything).
Bad points:
A bit bigger and heavier than I would have liked, but there was no other laptop with the same processor, memory etc at a smaller size and in the same prize bracket available when I was looking for a laptop.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
- Fantastic value for money (reviewed at £399.99 for reconditioned product). Have seen an independent review site state this as 'One of the best computers we've seen at this price' (reviewed at £490 for new product).
- DVD-Rewriter.
- HDMI-out port essential for connecting to a high definition TV (and nearly all HD TVs have HDMI-in ports).
- Card reader appropriate for easy data transfer from all common memory cards.
- Numeric keypad allows easy data entry.
- Contains HP compact media remote.

- Windows Experience Index: 4.6 (at time of review).
- Performs well when running multiple programs - under High Performance power profile (running at 2.00GHz) can run Halo 2 on near full settings, and even Burnout Paradise on mid-range settings (lower resolution but high detail).
- Graphics card can handle the streaming of 720p HD media, but will struggle with 1080p.
- Contains an eSata port that delivers high speed data transfer to compatible external hard drives (though you can ignore the stated 'maximum possible speed').
- Built-in wireless card is proficient at establishing and maintaining decent wireless connection.
- IDT Sound Card is packaged with some reasonably self-explanatory software for customising audio output.
- Laptop display aspect ratio (1366 x 768 - 16:9) is specifically geared for watching movies.
Bad points:
- Battery life sufficient, but a product of this weight class is more aimed at performance than mobile computing.
- Boxed product contains: Laptop, battery, power cord, quick setup manual, small HP Media Remote that fits into the laptop. Usual extras such as TV Card, aerial adapter, full size HP Media Center Remote with IR receiver are not provided.
- Reconditioned nature means I found one or two small surface scratches on the laptop. Display was flawless, though.

- 4.00GB RAM not being used to full potential under 32-bit Vista (the provided OS).
- Under the 'HP Recommended' power profile processor only runs at approx 1200 GHz, meaning use of the 'High Power' profile essential for high-end computing (reducing battery life...).
- Can run the likes of GTA IV on VERY LOW settings which is a feat in itself. But essentially, don't expect to run many games more recent than 2007.
- The 250GB HDD (actually 221GB once formatted and with 11.1GB Recovery partition) is all too easy to fill with a mid to large music collection (~50-100GB), an average sized Program Files folder (~40GB), system files amounting to ~20GB and all Photos, Documents, Videos, etc. Easily solved with a terabyte external drive (~£70) for those users who need extra storage.
- Laptop display resolution (1366 x 768) not geared for full High-Definition output (though, as mentioned, laptop can be easily connected to a full HD TV).

This computer delivers more than expected from a PC at this price. Whilst equivalent Acer PCs can offer a larger HDD and an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, (against the Intel PENTIUM Dual Core here) they may NOT offer an HDMI-out port, which, as stated, is a useful tool for the desktop-replacement PC with limited display size. I am totally unable to find a PC that matches up to this for this price, despite plenty of research. Ideal for students and home users, but probably not business users requiring portability and lengthy battery life. Oh, and the HP logo on the back of the display lights up. It looks awesome.
