This dryer is very easy to use and drys the clothes very well. The electricity bill has not been severely impacted either.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
- Very easy to set up as does not need any plumming, etc so just plug it in and away you go.
- Numerous features which importantly, are very simple to set and use.
- Huge drum capacity.
- Child lock feature is most useful.
- Well designed - looks great in my kitchen.
- Clothes always feel soft and dry after the cycle.
Bad points:
- Drying times can be quite long. I usually fill approx 2/3 full and will take average 2-2.25 hours.
- Is not quiet, though to be honest, not particularly noisy either. I will usually close the kitchen door if I want to concentrate or watch TV.

Score 10.0/10
Good points:
I have the matching washing machine aswell. This machine is fantastic.A great big 8kg drum which really does suck out the water from whatever you put in.The knob to select programmes turns easily around with quite a good selection of programmes. It's quite a good looking machine which i know might not be important to some but to me it is.It also seems very strong in build quality.
Bad points:
None so far.

Score 9.0/10
Good points:
This condensing drier collect water in a large removeable flat bottle (as opposed to venting outside) and appears to be very efficient - very little moisture escapes into the room compared to my last drier.
The dust filter must be cleaned EVERY time in order to maintain this efficiency.
The best feature about this drier is the Auto Dry sensor setting.... you simply select the level of drying eg. Bone Dry, Hanging Dry, Iron Dry etc, then select Auto-Sense and that is it.
So the drier does not just time through 1 hour or two hours cycles unnecessarily wasting heat - but senses that the clothes are dry to the setting made, then switches off.
Now this feature alone save vast amounts of power..
So do not be put off by the vast arrange of selections available. Once you have figured out what suits your requirements, then like most folks you will just stick to one or two settings and forget the rest...
The second top feature is that with all power bills forever going only upwards, this machine alows you to set a delay to the start time. Now if you are on a split rate economy tarrif for your electric (the old Economy 7) you can delay the drier to come on when electicity is at the cheap rate. REALLY useful no?
Third good point is that this unit has a big stainless steel drum - what I call family sized.
Fourth good point is that Hotpoint has the largest national call-out/ repair network in the country. This one reason alone is why we have had Hoptoint for the last 25 years, we being a family of 4 with the washing machine on every day....
Bad points:
This is not a - chuck in your clothes and wind a dial type of drier...
Loads of buttons with loads of possibilities so you have to spend some time reading the manual. Then you must explain to any potential user how it works...
However you only do this once, then know about it.
But the potential saving in power is huge because of the auto - sense feature...
THE bad point I would like to take issue with Hotpoint is that you MUST register with them for the 5 years parts guarantee and 1 years labour. Now I have spent hours trying to contact them on their so called registry line and it is a complete waste of time. I can not get through - and I mean never - ever. Really Bad for Hotpoint.
